On this season of Apple TV+’s “Loot,” it’s revealed that one of the show’s characters, played by Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, is a secret Taylor Swift fan — and even hides her Swift albums inside record jackets for jazz music. Don’t worry, star Maya Rudolph isn’t as clandestine. “I’ve always admired her,” Rudolph tells Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast. “This past summer was the summer of the Eras tour and my life will never be the same again. It was incredible.”
Rudolph says Swift’s album “Lover” is her favorite — but then she quickly backtracks. “Now you got me started. When my kids told me about the concert and said you go as your favorite era, I was like, how do I dress as ‘Invisible String?’ Because that’s my favorite song. My kids were like, that’s not an era. That doesn’t count. But it works for me.

Taylor Swift is very easily at a career peak right now, at a level that most artists won’t ever come close to. Her popularity has skyrocketed ever since her “Eras” tour, which is the highest grossing tour of all time (and isn’t even over yet). Swift’s 2024 has already been quite busy, starting with two Grammys for “Midnights” in February, including a fourth Album of the Year award, which made her the first artist to win that many AOTYs, an impressive feat considering Swift’s career is not even 20-years-old yet. On top of that, Swift put out another new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” that will likely also compete for a win in that category and others. Now that the album has had some time to marinate in the pop cultural landscape, how do her chances look?

I completed my undergrad at a small liberal arts college in the Midwest best known for its literary reputation, where tortured writers weren’t relegated to a mere department, but were, instead, about one-fifth of the entire student body. Having edited one of the student lit mags there, I share Taylor Swift’s love-hate relationship with would-be poets who define themselves via affected personality quirks and a refusal to complete a second draft.
What’s most odd about The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, then, is that Swift spends less time delving into what makes people like this tick than she does in imitating and then succumbing to their affectations. It’s the first of the singer-songwriter’s albums since her pivot toward full-on pop that would have been improved by an editor—or, more pointedly, by collaborators with the wherewithal to challenge some ideas that just don’t work.

On Friday, Taylor Swift’s close collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner shared their excitement about the release of Swift’s new album, saying they were “forever grateful” and “overwhelmed” to work with Swift.
“Love this album more than I can say …. love you all very much,” Antonoff wrote in a short post on X (formerly Twitter). “More later very overwhelmed … love you taylor.”
Dessner, for his part, shared a photo of Swift in the recording studio while making the double album.

If the song title “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” doesn’t say it all, wait until you hear the lyrics.
“Were you sent by someone who wanted me dead?/Did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed?/Were you writing a book? Were you a sleeper cell spy?/In 50 years will all this be declassified?,” Taylor Swift sings on track 14 from The Tortured Poets Department. “I would’ve died for your sins/Instead I just died inside/And you deserve prison/But you won’t get time.”
It’s clear songwriting is Swift’s specialty, and her new album features her superb storytelling. As she processes a breakup, the lyrics will hit you in the gut or smack you in the face — sometimes both on the same song. As she turns another page in her personal diary on her 11th album, Swift bares it all, and the songs...

Taylor Swift has written song after song that would be good to listen to on a first date. She once named her favorite first date song. Notably, the tune is in a style that Swift has never dabbled in herself.
Taylor Swift loves a 1st date song that’s emo
During a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift named some of the songs that inspired her. Her list included Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” a predecessor to her many breakup songs, Faith Hill’s “This Kiss,” a predecessor to her country-pop crossover hits, and Ed Sheeran’s “Lego House,” a predecessor to the folk love songs from her albums Folklore and Evermore. One of the rock songs on the list was “Hands Down” by Dashboard Confessional.

Taylor Swift has given the world some of the most popular love songs of modern times. A love song by a well-known indie band knocked her off of her feet. She said the tune was dark, but it managed to capture the true feeling of romance. Notably, Swift went on to work with the band in question.
Taylor Swift said this love song feels ‘like a memory’
During a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift was asked to name the music that made her into an artist. Some of her picks included Carly Simon’s breakup song “You’re So Vain,” Faith Hill’s country-pop love song “This Kiss,” and Jimmy Eat World’s crossover hit “The Middle.” One of the folk songs on the list was Bon Iver’s “Blood Bank.” Swift must be a big Bon Iver fan since “Blood Bank” is not one of the band’s more famous tunes.

Taylor Swift‘s “Cardigan” is one of the most interesting No. 1 hits to come out in the past few years. While she’s a musical genius, Swift did not create the tune on her own. She revealed how the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic inspired her to work with a rock star. The “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer explained why “Cardigan” was different from some of her earlier music.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Cardigan’ was partially the result of self care
Swift has collaborated with numerous notable artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Shawn Mendes, and others. Several songs from her album Folklore were co-written by the rock star Aaron Dessner from the band The National. During a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift said she was a fan of The National. She discussed how she and Dessner created her song “Cardigan.”

The Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn love story has been a wild ride for fans. Although their romantic journey has now ended, the magic they created together through songwriting still echoes loudly. And apparently, Alwyn is still riding the wave of their songwriting success, reportedly raking in the millions even after the breakup. According to some recent sources, despite the relationship coming to an end, Alwyn continues to reap the benefits. Here’s how!
Taylor Swift in a still from her single Love Story Joe Alwyn Continues to Cash in on Taylor Swift Even Post-Breakup
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn‘s romantic saga spanned six long years, and while it’s no secret that Swift has moved on, and is now publicly dating Travis Kelce, little did they know that even after their split, there would be something that ties them together eternally, and that is the songs they wrote together.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)” has entered its streaming era, now available to watch exclusively on Disney+. The concert film, which arrived in theaters Oct. 13, 2023, includes even more content than the theatrical version, which already captures the three-plus hours of show that Swift puts on.
After its launch in theaters, the film was available as a digital rental in December on Swift’s birthday, the 13th. The digital version included performances of three extra songs: “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer,” and “Long Live” on set.
But the Disney+ version of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” includes an additional four secret songs. Good Morning America led a countdown to the film’s arrival on Disney+ by teasing three of these four songs — “Maroon,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “You Are in Love (Taylor’s Version).”

Oh Taylor Swift, look what you made Disney+ do.
The streaming service has just debuted the movie Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour (Taylor’s Version), and to celebrate the premiere, it has Swift-ified the Disney+ homepage, with a Taylor Swift-inspired takeover.
The takeover will put The Era’s Tour movie front and center of course, but other sections will be created and curated to reflect some of Swift’s albums.
Where Disney+ normally features curated collections of films and TV shows based on themes like “Princesses,” “Funny Families” and “Throwbacks,” it will now feature sections with names like “Red,” “Folklore” and “Evermore,” all labeled “Disney’s Version.”
Among the collections will be “1989 (Disney’s version),” featuring projects from Swift’s birth year like The Little Mermaid and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids; “Fearless (Disney’s Version),” with titles like Moana, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Limitless With Chris Hemsworth...

Paul McCartney‘s songs draw influence from numerous things. He has written multiple songs that reference the planet Venus. During an interview, Paul told Taylor Swift how the planet inspired one of those songs. The song in question appeared on one of Paul’s No. 1 albums.

Taylor Swift announced her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” when she won Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys. But Beyonce was like, “Hold my beer,” and revealed during the Super Bowl that she would be dropping new music. Beyonce’s “Act II,” her follow-up to “Renaissance,” is slated for March 29, after which “Tortured Poets” comes on April 19. Perhaps surprisingly, that makes this the first time in 15 years that the two superstars will have competing eras at the Grammys. Will Swift win Album of the Year for the fifth time, or will Beyonce finally win for the first time? Or might they both be overtaken by another artist?
Of course, I must preface this by saying that neither album is out yet, so whether they’ll even be any good has yet to be determined. But considering their creative and commercial consistency over the years, let’s for the...

Remember when the Grammys used to suck every year? These days, nobody does. The Grammy ceremony has been on a historic roll ever since 2021, when they finally figured out how to stop doing a normal award show, and turn it into (as host Trevor Noah said) “a concert where we give out awards.” Grammy Night now has blown up into a ritual that really feels like a full-blast fan celebration. Last night’s excellent Grammy bash had no stupid comedy skits, no cringey presenter chit-chat — just memorable music moments, along with some dog-vomit ones.

In the history of the GDMAs thus far, Swift is the only artist who has won Artist of the Year. She’s also the only artist who has won Record of the Year and Song of the Year. But her Album of the Year victory for “Midnights” is only her second in that race. She previously won in 2021 for “Folklore,” but Lana Del Rey claimed that honor in 2022 for “Chemtrails Over the Country Club” and Beyonce prevailed in 2023 for “Renaissance.”

Taylor Swift is the odds-on favorite to make history with an Album of the Year victory for “Midnights.” It would be her fourth win in the category following victories for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.” That would set a new record for the most Album of the Year wins for any recording artist ever, breaking Swift’s tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. But she’s only tipped to win two other categories out of her six total nominations: Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights...

The nonprofit We Are Moving the Needle presented the Resonator Awards on Tuesday night, an inaugural celebration designed to spotlight women in the music business in a push for creating a more inclusive industry. Naturally, the biggest name in the game received a shout-out from the podium.
Two of Taylor Swift’s close collaborators — producer Jack Antonoff and mixer and recording engineer Laura Sisk — hit the stage inside Beauty & Essex in Hollywood. Antonoff had the honor of presenting the Exceptional Ears Award to Sisk, a three-time Grammy winner who has also worked with Lana Del Rey, Lorde, St. Vincent and Florence + the Machine.

A Focus on Melody Over Movies When we think of Taylor Swift, it’s her chart-topping albums and sold-out tours that spring to mind, not scenes from romantic comedies. And there’s a reason for that. Taylor Swift’s music career is a juggernaut that demands her time and creative energy. Throughout the pandemic, she didn’t pause to take a breath; instead, she released two albums, ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’, which were both surprises to her fans. While rerecording her old masters, Swift kept busy throughout the pandemic. This sheer dedication to her craft leaves little room for lengthy film projects, which romantic comedies...

And during the eligibility period, Swift has been nothing if not successful. It might, in fact, be the most dominant period of her career.

Taylor Swift is certainly no stranger to the Recording Academy. Over the span of her successful career, the singer has managed to rack up 46 Grammy nominations and 12 wins. In fact, she actually took home album of the year when she was only 20, making her the youngest winner of the award in the show's history.
And that's not the only record she holds. In 2016, she became the first woman to win album of the year more than once for her own solo recordings, and in 2021, she became the first woman to win album of the year three times with "Folklore"'s big win.
The 33-year-old scored four nominations at the 2023 Grammys, including song of the year, best music video, best song written for visual media, and best country song. Though she didn't take home any awards, see Swift's long list of wins ahead.

With the release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” one can’t help but be transported back to the original “1989” era. One of the biggest album rollouts in recent history, Taylor Swift’s full transition to pop music in 2014 left a lasting impact on the music sphere and, most importantly, on her career. At the Grammys, the album and its songs contended for two straight years and showed the world just how powerful Swift is.

No medium understands the terrifying potential of TV quite like film does. That’s right: countless horror movies have paid homage to the spooky possibilities of their industry’s smaller screen little brother over the years. Movies like Poltergeist, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, and The Ring all recognize that a television set is a powerful, scary totem.
A TV set is a device that families have placed in their living rooms for decades, passively welcoming in all manner of signals, blithely trusting that evil somehow won’t piggyback its way on them. Still, for much of television’s early years, there wasn’t a ton of great horror series to speak of (aside from the truly iconic like The Twilight Zone). That has all changed now.

The 2004 album “1989” was a pivotal moment in Taylor Swift‘s career, making her a rare artist to transition from one genre to another full-time and enjoy even greater success than they’d achieved before. After she established herself as a country singer-songwriter, that was the moment she became a full-fledged pop star. Now she has released “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” the latest in her series of albums she has re-recorded in order to regain control of her music rights.
Several reviews came in the very day her new “1989” dropped on October 27, and the early consensus of critics has been overwhelmingly positive. Rachel Aroesti (The Guardian) writes that the album “provides a perfect excuse to revisit those monstrously accomplished tracks” and that it “also helps make sense of that decade in pop.” Angie Martoccio (Rolling Stone) adds that “now, in a post-rockist world, ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ shines a lot brighter.

Taylor Swift is a master at songwriting, but "Folklore" took things to a whole different level. The album, which was released in July 2020, features beautiful lyric after beautiful lyric. While some songs aren't exactly about Swift's personal life, others are deeply personal. In a November 2020 interview with fellow songwriting legend Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone, the singer opened up about writing "Folklore" and the true meaning behind her song "Peace."
"When I was making 'Folklore,' I went lyrically in a total direction of escapism and romanticism. And I wrote songs imagining I was, like, a pioneer woman in a forbidden love affair," she said. When McCartney inquired about a line in "Peace," Swift noted that that song in particular was "actually more rooted in [her] personal life" than other tracks.

One of the benefits of being a massively successful pop star is, presumably, that instead of having to agree to go on an awkward date with Ted from accounting, you have a whole buffet of celebrity bachelors at your disposal. If anyone is a good example of this, it's Taylor Swift.
Her relationship status has been making headlines for well over a decade now, starting when she joined forces with Joe Jonas in 2008. From dating another Taylor (Taylor Lautner) to cozying up with Harry Styles, Swift has dated plenty of movie stars and musicians, and she also famously has a penchant for memorializing her fallen relationships in song. Though "Dear John" and "Style" are contenders, perhaps none of the songs she's written about her "long list of ex-lovers" are quite as famous and beloved as "All Too Well" - especially the 10-minute version - which chronicles her past relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” officially opened on Friday, October 13. Under normal circumstances, Friday the 13th wouldn’t seem like an advantageous time to do anything except maybe get hunted by a hockey-masked serial killer, but in this case it happens to coincide with Grammy voting, which started on October 11 and ends October 20. Will that help her clean up in the nominations?
“The Eras Tour” has been a blockbuster on concert stages, and it was a blockbuster in movie theaters before it was even released, selling $100 million just in pre-sale tickets. That’s an astronomical number for a concert documentary, but it’s par for the course for Swift, who has enjoyed unprecedented success for the past year.

When 13-year-old Zoe King’s parents tried to get tickets for her and her sister, Wrenna, 11, to see Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Massachusetts last spring, they, like roughly one in four Swift fans, were out of luck. “They were all sold out or like $3,000,” says Zoe. So when Zoe’s dad, Pat, saw that the concert was coming to movie theaters, he snapped up Friday night seats at a nearby Cinemark theater in Hadley, Massachusetts, for his family and some of the kids’ friends. “We had gone through that torment of trying to buy concert tickets,” says Pat, “So, as soon as I got the email about the movie, I bought them.” Zoe dressed for the screening with a nod to Swift’s Midnights album in dark blue, and Wrenna painted the numbers 1989 on her cheeks. “I kept raining glitter wherever I went,” Zoe says. “I wore a shawl.
