Going into this film, i've anticipated it for months. However, it is leagues better than any fan film on Youtube or made that i'm aware of. The score stood out to me as one of the many shining crystals in the film, capturing the essence of the malevolent entity that is Darth Sidous and Darth vader. Absolutely amazing, must watch for any fan of Star Wars, or even fans of fan films, absolutely awesome.

One of the best

This is one of the absolute best fan films I have ever seen!!! The love and dedication that has gone into this project is visible in every scene. From the writing, acting, special effects and emotion makes this a true Star Wars film! I hope to see more episodes as soon as possible.
Best Star Wars Fan Film

Most star wars fan film is mostly just a long lightsaber action scene that dosen't really capture the star wars feeling. This is diffrent. The understanding of the character that Vader is amazing. The atmosphere is amazing and it's a good star wars film
Amazing with potential for greatness

It's What Disney Has Been Missing
baddogreviews31 December 2018
Ever since episode 7 star wars has lost the passion and love for the franchise. This fan film shows what true love and passion for something can produce. At first I was a little worried about how it would look and if the acting was going to be good. I was concerned that it would be like any other fan film, it couldn't be any further from that. This is as good if not better at times than a full production star wars movie. It definitely was what's been missing from the franchise!
Surprisingly great!

Star Wars is BACK

This fan film has it all and it certainly shows with how much passion it was created something that Disney seems to have forgotten. The Special effects are dazzling and mind-blowing and in very few instances can you see that this is a fan film. The story captivates the audience and although you know that it is only 16 minutes long you wish for it to never end. This fan film has united the fans once again and brought smiles to our faces and I hope that we get Episode 2 soon. Well Done STAR WARS THEORY !!!!
100 Better than Last Jedi

When the last Jedi came out I lost hope in Star Wars but this part of the movie showed me hope and why I fell in love with Star Wars. I hate to say it but this man did what rian Johnson failed to do. And that's bring the fans together
An amazing film

The Reinvigoration the Franchise Needed
officialyorkie31 December 2018
LucasFilm's own Episode VIII: The Last Jedi had left a sour taste in the mouths of many a fan of the STAR WARS saga, and a year later this is still true. Fans of the franchise were and still are divided over the controversial eighth instalment, and the release of VADER has helped heal these old wounds.
Despite being a fan film on a budget lower than the average episode of The Clone Wars TV show, "Star Wars Theory" and Danny Ramirez deliver a short film with the spirit of STAR WARS in mind; beautiful VFX, cinematography and of course, a compelling cadre of villains aplenty.
The film, naturally, leaves much to be desired however; the voice acting of Bradley Klein for the character of Emperor Palpatine shows that perhaps Master Yoda has rubbed off on the voice of the Senate more than the dark side has. Jacob A. Cadmus' score for the film is entirely synthetic in instrumentation, unfitting for a STAR WARS flick, and it shows throughout the film. The film also seems a little too reliant on lines and references to previous material, as well.
Nevertheless, this film is one fans of the STAR WARS franchise have needed to heal themselves, and its sequel is hotly anticipated.

Warning: Spoilers
I overhyped myself for this "Fan Film" or more precisely, Fan series. In all honesty, this just felt like a way to make something to show off or gain popularity for the Star Wars Theory channel. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but it just doesn't feel like a passion project. This was really rushed, like really rushed.
Kickstarter:
I'm aware that most of the original plot elements and concepts have been scrapped from the Kickstarter page. I can see why now. From concept to final, there's a major difference, due to improper budgeting and aiming too high to create a fan series.
Budget: You have a budget of $100,00? Yes? If you really wanted to make a series, like you, initially wanted to, then this would've been at least $10,000 for ten episodes or $25,000 for four episodes. The budget really worried me because this looks like something DW 2012 would create on a quarter of that budget you have. With technology moving fast, creators can make wonderful content such as Film Riot, Corridor or rocket jump. I understand this is not a film channel but yet the first episode is an eyesore to look at for many reasons.
Before I continue, this is not for Star Wars Theory himself. I really feel bad for the crew themselves. I know 6 ½ months is not a lot of time for a project like this, although it's just a pilot I'm assuming since the majority of the budget went into ONLY one episode.
Lighting:
The lighting is very bland in this episode. The only good shot that looked good is the establishing shot from the Naboo scene. I feel like this like that one scene in SOLO, it had better lighting than most of these one colored shots. Whoever was responsible for lighting, just tone the blue and red down a little. The Padme scene lighting did not fit in with the rest.
VFX:
You guys did an absolutely great job on the lightsaber, sparks, lightning and blaster parts, the other parts, not so much. The little window from the ship when Vader and Palpatine were talking felt really fake. The fire in the episode looked really bad, please visit Action VFX and buy some fire essentials. There are way too many lens flares in the episode, this isn't a Michael Bay or JJ Abrams film. The slip space scene, fleet scene, and Naboo felt more real than the rest of the episode, good job guys!
Set Design:
For a project this big, the weird looking room was too clunky and felt empty. The set design could've been green screened and would look better. The Vader chamber scene looked amazing (VFX) and I feel like that's how every scene should look like. The blend between VFX and sets should feel organic, not off-putting.
Acting:
The clone troopers and extras did an amazing job. The girl that played Padme knows how to act. Young Anakin was good. Vader did an amazing job and Palpatine felt cringey (not in the dream). Keep up the good work!
Costume Design:
Nothing to say here, it's really good. The clone troopers need more work. Vader's helmet was bad because you can tell its plastic when the light hits it.
Sound Mixing:
The dB was balanced very well. The music that was mixed in need to be slightly less loud than it already was. The foley needed some D-Verb.
Cinematography:
It was good, really good., despite some dead space in some scenes. You really know what to do but I feel like the set design killed some shots and made them feel weird. It needed more close-ups to make the dream feel more suspenseful.
Screenplay:
It felt rushed. I feel like it was written to show off a lot of VFX rather than the story. Watch some Tv-shows or web-series to understand how a series is written.
FX:
It's good. Except when palatines on the floor.
Overall, this was good. It wasn't the greatest Star Wars fan film. I just feel bad for the crew who had to rush this amazing project.
A note for the future Star Wars Theory. When you have $100,000 for a series, use it wisely.

A fan film on IMDB so I'm going to judge it like a real film.

If I were to score this as a fan film in comparison to other fan films it would be a 9. However, this is not a "fan film" website for scoring a movie. No I'm not just some hater. I actually like that this guy had the guts to spend his money on a movie for his fans. From a non fan film perspective it's a miss. Yeah for a fan film it has good effects but not for a "real" film. Yes for a fan film it has good acting. But from the perspective of a real movie the acting is not on point. For example the voice of palpatine for a fan film it was decent but for a "real" film it was horrific. I thought I was listening to an old man with larengitis and a slight accent. I could do this for every actor but I won't. The story itself isn't very compelling at all to the casual viewer. You really don't know what is actually going on if you don't know Star Wars. You could start any other Star Wars real movie from the start without knowing much about it and still be aware of what's going on. Yes it is difficult to do that in 12 ish minutes but the fan film fails to do so as do all fan films. This review will get great backlash I'm sure. I have nothing against anyone who was on the team for this production. Sometimes the truth must be told as the fanboys judgment is often blinded.
🔥 The Force Is Strong With This One 🔥

I was not expecting much but anything with Darth Vader has my full attention.... From the beginning to the end I was on the edge of my seat! I don't want to through shade on the new Trilogy but dang did this blow it out of the water! Disney, Lucas films take some notes! Thank you so much for making this short film. My whole family saw it over a dozen times during Christmas. Thank you again and may the force be with you! Epic.
The circle is now complete.
