Graeco-Roman symbolism is codified into the production design of the hacker's den; Max wears a T-shirt of the Attic Vase depicting Oedipus & The Sphinx, Monique wears a small silver necklace of the Delta symbol, on the wall next to Sanjeev there is a stencil of a woman in a toga, the classic 'Doric column' pattern is graffitied on the walls, Wally has four Athenian toy soldiers on his desk, the hacking program on the monitor displays the Greek alphabet, Sanjeev says the first videotape is called 'Project Ixion', the second videotape overlay text labels it 'Project Hades', and a painting of 'The Lament for Icarus' by Herbert Draper is hung on the wall.
When Sanjeev is playing chess against Max at the start, there is graffiti on the wall behind him of a complex chess algorithm.
A painting to the right of Wally's screen is by 'Mr Mark Mark' from Johnson's Island and was made especially for the film. Mr Mark Mark is known for his colour theory and the image approximates digital technology with the use of metallic paint and electric blues.
The naval academy which features in the film is a real military educational centre based in Annapolis, Maryland.
The 'Handler' who fights 'Test Subject #33' in the second videotape is played by Master Leon Chiu, a renowned martial artist from China.
