Wanted Metamorphosis.

I think if we had all the Elders stories completed in this episode, and with Vanessa present this would have been a better finale.👍

Just finished watching this...
plotinusmann11 February 2020
I wish I could thank the writers for producing a happily satisfying season. Great acting, props were ok, decent camera work blah blah but its the writing I really enjoyed: I love the plot device of just skipping ahead (ostensibly "to the good bit") ha made me feel clever and respected, like my time's being valued. It's just a plot device (like a button push) but it gave me confidence that the writers weren't scrabbling for ideas in the middle of season 4; there's somewhere they cant wait to get to!

And then they delivered with good action, even sidelined the protagonist for a bit, gave us well paced and moreish episodes. That dad character (can't be arsed googling his name) I feel is too pretty in evrrything he does but he was fine casting. Tricia Helfer still a great bad guy and that other actor from battlestar galactica made an excellent colnel. Cant wait to watch season 5: hurry the hell up guys!

Boring and hard to watch

Warning: Spoilers
Very disappointing season finale. Ever since they killed Sam, the show hasn't been the same. I stayed just because I was curious how Vannesa's journey will pay out. Big let down! They remove her as the main protagonist and introduced her daughters. The actresses are plain bad, giving me a bad taste after each line. Now their father (Willem) , had a plan for them to kill the Dark One, but the sisters had no strategy whatsoever. They showed up powerless, no means to incapacitate Dracula and no Vannesa to help them. Just mindless plot and incompetents. The dark one gets her way, obviously, but I need to mention that the Madam President was also lacking brain cells to figure out that Jack was being possessed, predictable. It has been boring and hard to finish this season.

When did Van Helsing become a Teen Drama?
jameslavisnz12 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What I loved about Van Helsing was its dark themes and sense of impending doom as Venessa drew closer to her own dark side, and to the Dark One (who I assumed was Dracula, the same written about in Bram Stokers novel that is). I also enjoyed how the Vampires seemed so much stronger than the Van Helsings, and that made their defeat even better. Take for example when Julius and Scab fight in the first episode, where Julius didnt have a chance. Then take the episode where Julius finally kills scab. While it was a long fight scene, it was clear that Julius would win from the beginning, making it very unsatisfying. The show started with Venessa in her quest to kill the Dark One, and doing so stubbornly and awesomely, to two whinny teens complaining about how they just cant trust anybody. Similarly, all the major charaters like Axel and Julius went from being smart and reliable to being content to happily going along with whatever half cocked and badly thought out plan the girls came up with. I absolutely love this show and it is dissapointing to see where it has ended up. I hope the writers and directors can take inspiration from the first three seasons (especially season 1 and 2) and execute some of quality writing and great execution that got people to keep watching the show in the first place.

PS. What kind of Colonel brings a knife to a gun fight! Especially since he had a gun on him already

Embarrassing to watch
duckboy-941715 April 2020
As soon as the writers brought in these 2 girls to the show it spelled the beginning of the end. Their story line sucks and neither one of them can act to save their miserable lives. Please stop the madness and just keep the show the way it was !!!

Bring back Vanessa
Calicodreamin22 April 2021
This show has taken a dismal turn downwards with the decision to cut out Vanessa. This season finale was disappointing, with the entire progress of the season being wiped out in a mere few moments. A poorly written mess is what I would call this season.

Warning: Spoilers
Really? Sam was the best actor here ever since the show started but now they cut him out easily and cut vanessa and let her daughter's do the rest and they are not even these great in acting accept for thier father, whoever watched arrow and the 100 will know of his acting skills. Other than that I'm fast forwarding this whole season and glad that I did.

Obvious twist
liam_nb18 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The rest of this season was good but this really obvious twist at the end was a big punch in the face I would have liked to see more development on this human civilization and the players at work in it before well murdering them, they even killed the guy from Battlestar Galactica this show can't seem to give new characters a break which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's done in such a lame way. Also why the hell do the secret service just let the president who is obviously not the president get away with letting an evil vampire go like why it's Insane. It's just full of plot holes and Insanity. Also if Julius is dead next season I'm not watching it. On a possitive note this new character ivory seems pretty cool and it set up some dark realm stuff that might be good. But for God's sake next time you want to make a character take over a person's role don't have them murder someone and release a vampire in front of the secret service it's goddamn stupid it takes all my enjoyment away and turns it into me repeatedly saying to nameless agent character why are you so stupid.

Unfortunately teen drama
akaslammin3 August 2021
The show is occasionally a bit silly but generally it is fun, entertaining and engaging. This season has a lot more silly bits than previous seasons and has slowly but surely turned into a silly teen drama. This episode has just too many silly bits and is wholly predictable Clearly the studio reduced the budget for the fifth season so cut a bunch of the key actors in the 4th and reduced cost overall. But still worth watching and giving the 5th season a go.
