This season has shined in that David has shown his strong character development, but he's still David and Patrick has shown his foibles and imperfections, but he's still a wonderful guy. The fact that take charge Patrick's engagement plans are nearly derailed but it turns out beautiful and romantic anyway, with David's help, makes it more romantic than if it had gone perfectly. Meanwhile, Johnny has always been the heart of the show and seeing Moira unravel at the thought of losing him was both hilarious and heartwarming.

Stevie is the Heart of This Show

I like how the writers use Stevie as a stand-in for the viewer. She observes and is generally the voice of reason, but as much as she tries to remain detached, she can't help becoming invested in the lives of the crazy people around her. When her heart breaks because David may eventually leave her or when she is scared she might lose a father figure in Johnny, you feel it because she is us.

The proposal is so well written and acted, very emotional and absolutely genuine, organic and natural - just as all proposals should be. I credit the creators for a story that is cherishing and lovable. One of my SC's favorite. Well done - sorry it's over.

Patrick shanghais David into taking a hike to a special place. David whines and complains the whole time. But Patrick has ulterior motives and has to wade through all the drama to get to the point. The whole thing is quite touching and, of course, is going to bring about a whole bunch of interesting developments.
Patrick and Alexis go to the diner where Twyla is earning money by reading Tarot cards and puts an interesting slant on the upcoming Galapagos trip.

Patrick takes David on a hike. David imagined the picnic as something more elegant and Patrick tells David he has to stop watching Notting Hill. They stop at the side of the road and David makes a funny comment saying it is like going to get murdered.
