Spike of Bensonhurst (1988)
Precious hours of my life, wasted!
I saw this movie at the theatre for lack of anything else to do, and only paid a dollar to see it. God help me if I'm ever this desperate for "entertainment" again. None of the characters were likable, and although it can be fun to dislike awful characters, this film was just too horrible to offer that solace. Terrible acting, ridiculous characters, bad, bad movie. I should've asked for my dollar back.
History Is Made at Night (1937)
A hauntingly beautiful romance
Charles Boyer has never been more charming and Jean Arthur never more beautiful as impromptu lovers Paul and Irene. Colin Clive is brilliant as Irene's madly jealous and obsessive husband Bruce, who unwittingly brings the two lovers together and follows desperate measures to keep them apart. Boyer's and Arthur's tender love scenes make this film one of the greatest unsung screen romances.
Screen Two: Persuasion (1995)
Classic romance
Touching film of Austen romance, with the usual combination of meddling, snobbery and social bias that thwarts the happiness of two people. After seeing this film, anyone who has let someone they loved slip out of their life will be wondering, "What if I had a second chance?"
Whose Line Is It Anyway? (1998)
Ouch, my sides are splitting!
This show and Late night with Conan O'Brien are the only comedy shows on Network TV that have often reduced me to tears, I've laughed so hard!
Colin and Ryan seem to come up with the funniest bits, but Wayne's "song styles" are always popular.
