Deep Rising (1998)
Only for People who like B-movies
There isn't anything original in Deep Rising, it's only another Sub-Alien B-Movie. It isn't a problem, I saw good sub-alien movies but Deep Rising flunk at all. Some Effects are good, some are bad. Stephen Sommers don't have know how to directed this kind of movie. All the cast were very bad in the movie. The Screenplay is awful. The action isn't great. The only good sequence is on the elevator. I didn't see Deep Rising expecting for a great movie but I never expected that the movie was so bad.
The movie is so bad that some sequences are funny. It's a Trash Classic.
Bela Donna (1998)
One of the Worst Movies of All Time
Director Fabio Barreto got a strange Academy Nominea for his last movie O Quatrilho. Quatrilho is a bad movie, but in Bella Donna, Barreto did one of the Worst movies of All Time. His adaptation of the novel Riacho Doce is ridiculous. Think with me how poor brazilians fishermen speak a perfect english? In the film they do. There isn't a Screenplay, It's only a very long videoclip with a beautiful places and many sex scenes with Moscovis and Henstridge.
Phoenix (1998)
A Phoenix Confidential, Maybe
Director Danny Cannon (from the awful Judge Dredd) made a very interesting film-noir. Ray Liotta plays a cop with a game-addiction who needs $32,000 to pay a debit. He and three another cops do a blow but everything wasn't how he thought. The supporting cast is perfect. The screenplay is very good. The direction is correct. A Phoenix Confidential, Maybe.
Six Days Seven Nights (1998)
Six Days, Seven Nights, A Thousand Movies
Six Days, Seven Nights isn't a good movie. It's a kind of movie that you saw a thousand times, but you came to the theater to saw another. The chemistry between Heche and Ford is good. Schwimmer is cool. But the screenplay and the direction isn't creative. Six Days, Seven nights is a great movie to see in a saturday afternoon.
