Quest of the Delta Knights (1993)
Ludicrous, but Richard Kind saves this mess from total worthlessness!
How did Olivia Hussey get roped into this? For that matter, how did David Warner get roped into TWO roles!?
Set SOMEWHERE in Europe during medieval times, it's a pastiche of unidentifiable movie genre. Its saving grace is the inspired casting of Richard Kind, thick New York accent and all, as a klutzy wizard - it's worth the price of admission (if you can find a copy!).
This movie is simply much worse than it would have been with a coherent plot and intelligent dialogue. Does it border on being so bad that it's good? Yes!
The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)
Smooth, slick and sexy.
Quite an excellent movie and a great remake to the also excellent 1968 version with Steve McQueen & Faye Dunaway. If you buy into the premise, you can overlook the 1 or 2 holes in the plot, sit back and enjoy the heat from the pairing of Brosnan and Russo. It's a game of cat and mouse, and the underlying theme (assuming there is one) is that of trust between two sharks. See it!
Fire Maidens from Outer Space (1956)
Amazingly sensuous low-tech 50s sci-fi.
This movie was shown repeatedly on TV between 1957 and the early 60s. Anyone who saw it in the 50s remembers the soundtrack and the hot Fire Maidens! It was a silly low-tech movie, yes, but it was no worse than any other implausible sci-fi flick of that pre-spaceflight era. This movie is what it is, and what it is, is a pleasurable escapist marshmallow. See it if you can - you'll get a few laughs out of it.
Les visiteurs (1993)
Do not miss this movie if you can find it at your video store!
13th Century French knight and vassal are transported to the 20th Century where they encounter their descendents and are appalled/delighted by societal changes since the Revolution. Works on many levels, and is great on all of them! Great comedy, and is perfect for anyone who appreciates the French language or anyone learning it!
