Jim Thorpe -- All-American (1951)
Superb Movie, a Lancaster feat, sad ending although.
This was a great film, and was Lancaster at his best, he seemed so strong in this roll, winning almost everything he took part in had to be a sight to see, Thorpe was a good American, and
should never had his medals taken away, but that was life in those days. I know that he must have been really low at that time and disgusted with all of sports, I would have like to have seen him play but that was way before my time. The ending was sad, but it kind of left you wondering what he did do after sports.
The Rose Tattoo (1955)
Funny, sad, but Lancaster makes it magic!
This film has to be one that I like to pull out of the video rack at least 2 times a month and watch.
Burt Lancaster is at his best being a funny unemployed drunk who is in love with a big busted Italian female who has lost her husband when he was running drugs in the back of his truck.
When she loses her husband, that's when Lancaster enters her life and he is a real gas to watch as he is a poor immigrant. Good movie, see it as soon as possible...
Inherit the Wind (1988)
Can Watch it over and over!
Jason Robards, and Kirk Douglas, make this film STAND out, it is much better than the original and has the cast to back it up. We all know of the trial, and we all know that is was more or less a publicity stunt for the town of Dayton.
The teacher who was supposed to teach evolution was really just a wayward man, traveling and he was a good choice for all this to happen. Again Great TV Movie, rent it or watch it when it comes on!!!
