A disaster!
20 October 1998
It would be hard to imagine a more ineffective, uninteresting result from such potentially fascinating subject matter.

Given its impressive cast and important budget, Hollywood has rarely come up with so little.

Lautrec (1998)
Two-hour plus French biography of painter Toulouse-Lautrec
10 September 1998
Though often visually stunning and with a fine sense of period detail, this French language bio lacks the fire and soul it needs. Despite generally excellent acting, Lautrec remains a series of pretty but rarely moving vignettes that ultimately become tedious going.
