More proof that John Garfield was a vastly underrated actor,great story of jockey torn between easy money and the respect he risks from those who love him. It may shake your faith in racing industry but top notch cast makes it ring true.

Silly story line about a show staged by an outsider at the Point,but any movie that has singing by Gordon Macrae and Doris Day plus dancing by Virginia Mayo And Gene Nelson is a must see.If only to show today's movie fans the quality of talent that was around during the 1950s' Forget the story,and enjoy the musical numbers.

Entertaining whodunit with Ms. Stanwyck showing she can hold her own in musical comedy.The backstage antics at a Burlesque theater take a back seat to a killer among the company.The opening number with Frank Fenton's rendition of "So this is you" has to be one of filmdoms greatest satires. Pure fun!

Nice example of musicals of the Thirties. Just boy meets girl,but the score by Irving Berlin lifts this one above most of the others.Two of his gems "This years kisses" and "Your laughing at me" show why his songs are timeless.One of Alice Faye's early roles,and the one that made her a star.

Warner Bros.contract players were not paid much, but they sure rang the bell once in a while. Made on a tiny budget this little gem shows what a little money and loads of talent can produce.Thought provoking and entertaining.John Garfield at his best.

Harry Belafonte has produced just a few movies, but he sure proves he knows how to make good ones here.Great storytelling of a crime from its inception to execution,with fine performances from Harry and a top notch cast.On location filming gives it just the right touch of realism. Let's hope that Harry will serve up more.GO HARRY!

This has my vote for the most overrated movie of all time. To place it in the top 100 is the same as saying you have not seen many films. No one could be as dumb as Ben.{What in the world did he study in college?} There was a saying back then,"Never trust anyone over 40." That was a stupid statement, this is a stupid movie.REWRITE!

Good example of studio films from the forties. A love story,but also a history lesson on the labor unions trials and problems of getting a foothold in industry.True to the novel, Mark Stevens and Joan Fontaine are perfectly cast.
