Blackbeard, the Pirate (1952)
Pirate flop
This movie is a disappointment. The story line isn't up to the usual Raoul Walsh pictures. The main player in the picture was very dry and dull. Poor Linda Darnell didn't live up to her usual billing. Irene Ryan was funny. But her role was very horrible. William Bendix turns in a good performance with the script he was given. Keith Andes was very disappointing. It seems he's not comfortable at all. The main character Blackbeard (Robert Newton) lines was crisp nor was dry and very boring. The lighting in the picture was extremely poor. Making the color very dull. You can see RKO executives of the time should have been shot for releasing this sinking ship of a movie.
The Constant Nymph (1943)
A Beautiful Story
Looking at all of Joan Fontaine movies. You see the dedication she puts into her performances. I believe she was more disciplined in her method of acting. In The Constant Nymph she really gives a top performance of her career. Her and Charles Boyer really give us a exciting time. I was on the edge of my seat with the storyline. Alexis Smith whom I have always admired really turns out a stellar performance. Charles Coburn a season actor in his own right. Gives the movie flavor and excitement. I will miss Joan Fontaine with her dramatic acting and her on point performances. The Constant Nymph is a treasure to admire for many years. I really was so shocked how good this film is and this was Joan's favorite of all time.
The Very Thought of You (1944)
The greatest generation
The greatest generation. This movie shows the struggle during WWII. The struggle for love and togetherness. Times were great, people were sincere and generous. Families stuck together during the threat of adversity. Eleanor Parker and Dennis Morgan are great examples of love and devotion. The excitement of meeting and enjoying our freedom in a time of war. Seeing children play our families enjoying a Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner. Our troops had to fight for our freedom and way of life. This B movie shows woman working in factories. In all this movie will give future generations how we struggled to enjoy the normal life of love and family. And how our veterans secured our freedom and our way of life today.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
The Greatest movie of all time
Star Wars III is to me the best movie I have ever seen. The acting. The music. The scenes regardless of the computer generated scenes. Has all the fun and adventure you need in a picture Hayden Christensen is excellent. Natalie Portman is very beautiful and turns in a great performance. George Lucas is a great man with vision. When I first saw Star Wars back in 1977. You wouldn't imagine if this movie would have grown to what it is today. A mega giant. I will never forget the star War story. Its really sad now it comes to an end. Thank You George Lucas for giving me a really good outlet to watch. Thank you to all the characters who played in the series.
State Fair (1945)
Great music, Great Cast. Good in Family Values
Most people love to see a good old fashion movie. State Fair 1945 is that movie. The themes and sounds are so great. 20 Century Fox really found a great movie to keep people happy and to the great family values of the 40's. This movie starring Jeanne Crain, Dana Andrews, Dick Haymes, and Fay Bainter. Is a great story of family going to the State Fair. Displaying there fine cooking and farm skills. Jeanne Crain is excellent in singing and acting. Dick Haymes displays his great voice and good acting skills. Dana Andrews proves why he was one the leading actors of the 40's. The movie has a smooth feel to it. The songs and lyrics are beautiful. Rogers and Hammersteins music is what makes this movie so special. The supporting cast of Frank McHugh and Vivian Blaine turn in a great performance. In all a great movie
Skirts Ahoy! (1952)
Musical Failure
Shirts Ahoy 1952 doesn't have the kind of excitement like other musicals from MGM. The crisp singing numbers are not there at all. The only bright spot of the entire film is when Debbie Reynolds and Bobby Van perform. The actors in this film are very dull in acting, dancing, and singing. The camera shots are also poor. The casting of this film should had more big time musical stars than just one person. Esther Williams. Esther Williams gives her usual great swimming performance. But the swimming scenes are very few and far between. Vivian Blaine is not a seasoned screen veteran and her acting is so poor you wonder why the MGM bosses made this picture in the first place. Barry Sullivan is not his usual acting mood. His performance is very bad. In all flop.
Spellbound (1945)
Another Great film by Hitchcock
Spellbound 1945 Great picture from Selnick Studio's and Alfred Hitchcock. Two people responsible for this great flick. Ingrid Bergman and Gregory Peck. This movie's plot is a good one. The young woman doctor helping a man with a lost memory. The dialoque is great. Gregory Peck portrays a man lost and sometimes very much in control. There's one thing for sure. He loves his doctor. The flow of the movie is good it keeps you in suspense. The supporting cast had a good read on all aspects of the film, Spellbound is a must see and warrants a ten rating on a scale of 1-10. David O. Selsnick produced a fine picture. Its ashame that the Academy didn't give more awards to this picture.
The Blue Gardenia (1953)
A great Film Noir
The Blue Gardenia 1953. Probably one the greatest Film noir's of the 1950's. This movie features some of the best stars of old and new. Ann Baxter Oscar winning actress portrays a woman worried about her encounter with a man taking advantage of the situation. Set in Los Angeles. This story reminds me of Dragnet. The writing and screenplay is very good. The song The Blue Gardenia sung by Nat King Cole is beautiful and is played repeatedly during the film. Film stars Raymond Burr really sets the stage of the film noir. Ann Sothern guest stars. Her role in the film is very small. As to the role of Raymond Burr. I had just wished they used more of the cast in the film better to tell the story
Out of the Past (1947)
Great Film Noir
Out of the Past 1947 is probably the best film noir I have ever seen. Robert Mitchum in this role has a cool job as private investigator. He's smooth and very smart. The other heavy in the movie is Kirk Douglas his second movie of his career turns in a great performance. Kirk portrays his dominance in this picture. Kirk Douglas has a way to turn a role into a winner. The main actress in this incredible film is Jane Greer. Jane is smooth and ruthless. She kills and often. She's beautiful and very smart. Another great actress is Rhonda Fleming. This red head has a very limited role in Out of the Past. But her career is just starting.
Out of the Past will keep you in suspense and have you wondering all during the film.
Since You Went Away (1944)
Since You Went Away a great World War Two film
If only the producer could had waited until the 21st century to release this film. Since You Went Away is a tale of WWII. A Middle Class family in Rural America dealing with the War. The family is very nice three daughters and a loving wife. The town old fashion in its family values. Everyone goes to church. Everyone knows each other. And to the reward of the family. The friends are very caring.
Claudette Corbert is a gem in this picture. She sets the stage for family values. She's strong and very determined to protect her family. From the outside pressures of the war and the strain of life. Excellent performance.
Jennifer Jones is a wholesome very mature teenager in the film. Her acting is weak but its shines in many moments in the film.
Shirley Temple grows up in this film proving that a child can grow up to become an actress.
In all this picture is a great moving Picture.
The Song of Bernadette (1943)
A breathe taking Film.
The Song of Bernadette in many words is very holy and blessed. This movie is beautiful. It gives you hope. Jennifer Jones turns in a great performance as Bernadette. Jennifer Jones's first title role is well done and well played out. Charles Bickford plays a stern Priest of the church. As always in Charles Bickford films he's steady and very good. Gladys Cooper in her very strict mood as the Sister who scolds Bernadette. The great Anne Revere is a very concern mother and turns in a great performance. No wonder The Song of Bernadette won four Oscars. One thing that moves me. Is the general characters in the film. They are common people and the story is worthy of great gratitude.
Key to the City (1950)
Old Fashion Romance one more time.
Back in the Golden Age of Hollywood Romance was alive in well. But when television came. Romance lost its steam. Now Key to the City is a funny and very rewarding film to watch. Clark Gable has a good leading lady. Loretta Young a very beautiful leading lady. Loretta Young's career in Hollywood has been legendary. So her acting in this film would be very good. Her other co-stars. Lewis Stone and Frank Morgan really make this picture a classic. This would be Frank Morgan's last film.
But in this film there were goofs. At the end of the film became very silly at times. But see the film and enjoy the romance and the comedy associated with it.
The Stranger (1946)
Loretta Young a great actress
The Stranger 1946 is a great story of Mystery. Set after World War II gives us how the Nazis escaped from Europe after the war. Edward G. Robinson turns in a fine performance in the movie. Mr. Robinson had reputation of being a gangster in earlier films. This role gives us a different side to him.
Orsen Welles Legacy in films is flawless. His directing and acting is great. His style of directing was ahead of the time.
Richard Long is cast in this picture. Before the Big Valley series in the 1960's. Richard Long had a very nice film career going for his self. Unfortunately he died in 1974.
The Stranger with its co-stars Loretta Young, Edward G. Robinson and Orson Welles is a great Legacy of the American Cinema. Please embrace this picture and learn from it.
The Last Challenge (1967)
Glenn Ford The Fast Draw
In many ways The Last Challenge is simlar to the TV show Gunsmoke. Glenn Ford turns in a great performance. As the Marshall of a great western town. He has the respect off all the towns folk. He has a beautiful girlfriend who runs a saloon just like in Gunsmoke. Chad Evertt is the bad guy who rides into town to prove he's the better gun draw. The story is good some moments are a little slow but in the end. The story finally takes shape. One problem in the film. The Producers don't give enough substance to the Marshall. There's not enough gun play to establish the Marshall expertise as a law man. Angie Dickenson's character doesn't give the strong woman role. Like Miss Kitty in Gunsmoke. Chad Evertt's role should have been more dirty.

You Got Served (2004)
Acting is not required, Just Dancing.
You Got Served (2004) is a dance movie. The producers are appealing to the teenage generation. It lacks content and storyline. But its movies like this will soar to the top the charts. Well I wish the producers would take in consideration the amount of violence in this picture. It doesn't set the prime example today for teens. Next time push education and stop the violence.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Great Conclusion to The Trilogy.
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Is an historic epic film in the modern age of Hollywood. The storyline is very well done. The Cinematography by
Annie Collins and Jamie Selkirk was breathe taking. Director Peter Jackson
and Frances Walsh has inspired young movie makers for the generations.
Great story and screenplay. Four stars.

Road to Perdition (2002)
Authenic 1930's Gangster Movie
The Road to Perdition depicts the actual Gangster activity in Chicago area in the 1930's. True Al Capone adventure. Tom Hanks as usual carries the movie with his acting flair and leadership. During movie his character has to learn how to love his child. Being absent during his kids growth is thrusted into parenthood under unique circumstances. Paul Newman is excellent as the Gangster King Pin. The movie keeps the audience guessing until the end. Unfortuately the ending is a little bit drawn out and makes the movie sag at the end. In All Road to Perdition is a excellent movie and should get some oscars nods.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Great Special Effects.
Star Wars Attack of the clones. Has Great Special effects. George Lucas has given the audience some great moments during some action scenes. Natalie Portman is probably the whole ball of wax in Attack Of The Clones. Portman acting and physical endurance in some the scenes are just great. Ewan Mcgregor has really matured in this film. But there are some scenes that slowed the pace of the film. In all Star Wars: Attack Of the Clones should get four stars.
Run Silent, Run Deep (1958)
A great wartime movie
Run Silent, Run Deep is one of Burt Lancasters crowning achievements. Burt gives the viewer what a real sub captain should be. It was so like a navy officer. You would think he was in the Navy. Clark Cable is a gem he has always given us his professional style of acting. Jack Warden a true dedicated role in this film. Always standing up for his captain. The whole crew gave us excitement suspense and thrill. The only problem it lacked was a love story. More story lines for the crew. Not Creating a blend of different aspects leading up to there a patrol in the pacific. In conclusion the film merits a three star performance. Thank you Mr Lancaster and Mr Gable for a fine performance.
Petticoat Junction (1963)
Terrific Writing and Acting
Petticoat Junction is extremely well written. The actress of Kate Bradley is what made the show famous. With her caring and great family values. We need show's like Petticoat Junction today. Because we have lost those family values. Love, caring, brotherhood, and most of all trust. The characters BettyJo,BobbieJo and BilleJo showed us how to respect our parents at the same time to have humor and grace. We as tv viewers will relish this timeless sitcom.
Orchestra Wives (1942)
Refreshing Swingers Movie
Orchestra Wives is a refreshing swingers movie. Glenn Miller is excellent and Ann Rutherford is beautiful. The music is very well done by the great one (Glenn Miller). We should embrace this type of movie for its gentle music and great acting. Movies like Orchestra Wives are coming Back.
Cab to Canada (1998)
A beautiful and entertaining movie.
Cab to Canada is a terrific movie. I salute Maureen O'hara an actress who will live forever in the hearts of many movie goers.
