totally ignorant and disgusting
28 September 2001
What a disappointment to view Anthony Hopkins acting in the GUTTER!! Up to now, I've always had a lot of respect for him as an actor & considered him to be in the "upper-class" category. How could he DEMEAN himself so? This total waste-of-time-movie borders on being x rated in my opinion. The attempt at sexual humor fell flat on its face! It was also a total bore & a total misrepresentation of the "real" Dr. Kellogg. I would certainly love to see someone SUED for SLANDER. If I were a descendant of the Kellogg family (which I am not, by the way), it would be totally insulting to have my ancestor's methods & motives portrayed in such an untruthful way. As for Bridget Fonda, what else would you expect from her? She has no talents for REAL acting, anyway. All she can do is try to portray sexual situations. It doesn't take any talent for that! If you're contemplating renting this movie - save your time & money unless you like being in the gutter!

another movie portraying good family values
26 February 1999
Here is an excellent "farm family" movie centered around the life & ideas of a 10 yr. old girl. She learns the values of her parents who believe in caring for the land & not destroying it with some of the more modern farming methods. Another man who enters her life becomes very important to her. A surprise ending also gives an element of suspense to this great heart-warming film.

Battling for Baby (1992 TV Movie)
brings out important family values
26 February 1999
A heart-warming movie that I thoroughly enjoyed, about family relationships & the important role of parents AND grandparents. It also brings out the wisdom of forgiveness, understanding & not being judgemental. Above all, the priority of being there for a young child takes precedence over the accumulation of material things, even a house with more room. There is a very accurate portrayal of young newlyweds unprepared for a baby so soon, but in the end they learn the value of family plus the importance of time alone for the 2 of them.

Hope Floats (1998)
a wonderful change from the usual Hollywood trash
1 November 1998
I like "Hope Floats" because it is family friendly -no graphic violence, sex, or nudity. It is a crime that Hollywood doesn't give us more movies of this caliber & my hat is off to all who acted in it. They did a great job! It is a "feel good" movie instead of the usual after-taste of disgust, revulsion, repulsion, etc. I also appreciated the fact that the male lead was promoting a calm, laid-back more natural lifestyle. He realized from his time in California that the pressures of city life were not for him & he had the "guts" to do something about it! I admired his character tremendously!

Where Pigeons Go to Die (1990 TV Movie)
Relationship between an old man & his grandson
1 November 1998
This movie depicts the emotions between an aging grandfather & a very caring young grandson. The young boy is the most understanding one in the family of his grandfather's feelings & in practical ways shows the most concern for him. A very tender, thought-provoking drama.

The Magical World of Disney: Sunday Drive (1986)
Season 31, Episode 9
A terrific comedy that you can watch many times
1 November 1998
Ever since I saw this movie on TV, I've been wishing it would be put on video (it hasn't that I'm aware of). Thank goodness that I had a VCR & copied it! Even though my family has watched it many times, we still get a good laugh out of it every time. Two children who accidentally get in the wrong car that is identical to their aunt & uncle's car, set the stage for a fabulous comedy! A huge St.Bernard adds to the commotion & a young man & woman who become involved in the scenario add an interesting romantic line. This will give you your laugh for the day!

Hobson's Choice (1983 TV Movie)
a must-see for any Richard Thomas fan!

What a great movie! I applaud the role of the eldest daughter as she overcomes her father's domination & then goes on to aid her sisters in the same. Her character & determination reminded me of a 90s woman & was certainly not typical of her time frame.
