Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Maybe Kubrick's just not my style
Honestly, my friends and I walked out of this movie opening night like we had wasted a precious three hours of our lives. Though Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman made an honest attempt to salvage the film through their decent performances, the rest of the movie seemed rather plotless, pointless, and contained only one noticeable theme: sex. More storyline could be found on a porn flick. It wasn't until I read the reviews in the paper the next morning when I realized what the whole movie was even about. Monogamy? I didn't get that from watching the movie at all. Perhaps Stanley Kubrick is just not my type of director. Bluntly, I have no appreciation for his final work...it's a shame he had to leave on such a poor note.
Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer (1985)
My very first movie...
Rainbow Brite was the very first movie I ever saw at a movie theater. Though the animation may have been poor and the quality cheezy, it was enough to thoroughly encaptivate and enthrall a little 5-year old girl. To this very day, I still remember scenes and clips in my head of my favorite childhood toy coming to life on the big screen.
Can't Hardly Wait (1998)
Awesome one-liners!
This movie is a classic example of teenagers in the 90's. The one-liners in this movie cracked me up ("Man, I've gots to have sex tonight!", "Don't worry, I don't think it's weird...hey, Scott Baio", "You think I'm just going to strip off my clothes and do you", "If I had known you would've been in here pleasuring yourself", "It would've been nice to make out with her....can I make out with you?", "Look, there's a mirror right there....you're white."). It's great to watch if you're in the mood for a light-movie. Especially for those who are in high school or just got out of high school, it's a film that brings back "fond", nostalgic memories.
