Totally unreal experience.
23 February 2002
Maybe it is all a big hoax. If it is this is some of the best mockumentary making ever and If it isn't then Ken Carter's miserable struggle to get his rocket car to jump a mile is one of the most amazing tales I have ever seen.

Ken Himself, like pretty much his whole support crew is a misguided man, but his heart is in the right place and it seems God definitely ain't on his side.

This is a hard film to find but totally worthy of its cult reputation. As a comedy of errors it is unbeatable.

A ridiculously bad, yet somewhat surreal farce!
7 January 2001
Known as Whiskey and Ghosts, and dubbed appallingly into English this is one of those rare films that is so bad it is funny. The story of the drunk ghost of Davy Crockett trying to coax an young man into going after some treasure is full of laughable invisible gags, some abysmal jokes that are far funnier than anything one could have planned and some of the shoddiest and just plain weird action scenes ever committed to film. However there is more here than just cheap laughs, there is also some rather bizarre and surreal scenes. These focus mainly on Davy Crockett's ghost as the other famous western icons (Pecos Bill, Johnny Appleseed etc.) attempt to convince him to join them as the Horse Riders In The Sky - which I guess is the wild west afterlife.

Fantasmas en el Oeste is film you have to see to believe, and surely the only whiskey/supernatural/western/comedy film out there - truly bizarre.

An animated classic
29 May 1999
One of the few non-disney animation films that are truly great. This story of rural New Zealand follows the adventures of a farmer, the local kids and a dog- Dog. The only animated feature new zealand has ever produced is a classic. Exciting, hilarious, scary it has everything. The unique style of the comics works well on film and the atmosphere created by the dingy colours at some times is truly immersing. See this movie now!

2010 (1984)
One of the greatest sc-fi's of all time!
26 December 1998
A truly ambitious production to follow 2001, yet 2010 is just as enjoyable. Less trippy but gripping from start to finish. The plot is tense and marvellous with the amazing return of Dullea and the wonderful scary HAL. The new cast are all brilliant and the director captures the intense fear and mystery of space just as well as Kubrick. An amazing finale will leave you breathless rather than confused as in 2001.

May not be as epic or critically acclaimed as 2001, and doesn't quite have the same mystery yet it is still a masterpiece and probably more complete and satisfying as a movie. Buy and see it now and many times later.
