Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Well, it didn't suck.
I'll give it a 7 out of 10. I was expecting total crap and was pleasantly surprised by the films wit and brutality. I do think much was lost in the rapid fire editing ala Blackhawk Down ... while this gave the movie a more frantic pace, it made you wonder what the hell you were looking at during much of the carnage.
I only wish they had come back to the Monroeville Mall (site of the first DAWN) so I could have auditioned to be an extra. Oh well, another chance at immortality dashed!
The soundtrack deserves special mention. The use of the late Johnny Cash's "When The Man Comes Around" was a flash of pure brilliance.
Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle (1981)
Hot little porn flick from the Golden Age
It is hard to review a porn flick within the confines of the guidelines laid out by the IMDB. I guess the only real comment I can make is that this movie did what it was supposed to do, and that is arouse me (and my partner)
Annie is such an enthusiastic performer, and kinky enough in this mainstream porno, that you love going on the journey with her. This is what porn should be. Fun. Not taking itself too seriously, and most of all, I didn't feel like the actors were there just to get cash for their drug habits. They seemed to dig the whole thing as much as I did. Annie, if you ever read this... know that I think you're an absolute goddess! Never stop until you want to.
La sanguisuga conduce la danza (1975)
What was Redemption thinking? No Vampires here!
After an initial release of 4 very good Eurotrash titles, REDEMPTION has managed to scrape the bottom of the barrel with THE BLOODSUCKER LEADS THE DANCE. I found NO Bloodsuckers anywhere in this movie.
The story is simple. A mysterious count invites several actresses to his castle for a little vacation. After some sofcore sexual shenanigans the girls get decapitated one by one. Who is the killer? Who knows? There are more red herrings in this one than at the local fish market on Friday.
The pace is excruciating. The story is silly and the skin scenes aren't all that terrific either.
Give this one a miss.
And Now the Screaming Starts! (1973)
Gothic misfire has its moments.
A young virginal bride, an old haunted castle, and a twisted sexual curse! Sounds good? Don't bet on it. There are a few scares in this ponderous adaptation of the novel FENGRIFFEN, but they are very few and far between. By the time the family secret was revealed I had lost all interest.
One more thing. What does the title 'And Now the Screaming Starts' have to do with the movie?
You've got me.
