Little Voice (1998)

Music to the eyes
13 February 1999
Little Voice is an excellent film. Jane Horrocks has amazed me, she can sound exactly like singers such as Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, and many others (both speaking and singing). I know a lot of people complained Horrocks was to old to play the part of L.V., but I thought she looked like a nineteen year old.

And of course everyone else was great, Ewan, Michael, Brenda and Jim. Such a superb cast (and everyone except Brenda was overlooked for an Oscar, which really ticks me off). Such a superb movie. Go see it, you will love it.

From the next world

This has to be one of the best fairy movies ever made. It's abstract, but it's also logical. The acting in the movie is wonderful! Toby Stevens is great as always, Ben Kingsley is wonderful, all the females of the picture are very good. And the faries are pretty cool. This is an all round good film. Go rent it.

Tour de Force
9 February 1999
This is the ultimate movie on the corruptness of the police force during the 1950's. No one is going to make a better movie than LA Confidential, the cast is perfect, the direction is superb, the screenplay is amazing, the choice of music, the graphic brutality, the not so fine line between good and evil.

When I saw this in the theatres, I came out of the theatre and couldn't say anything because I was awed. And I was amazed by how wonderful Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce were, I had never heard of them before, so I didn't know what to expect, but now I have two new favorite actors. And I couldn't believe that Russell was a New Zealander and Guy was an Aussie. They had great American accents. And of course Kevin Spacey was superb as always.

Any way, this is an awesome movie, go rent it if you have not seen it.

An All round excellent film
7 January 1999
"Shakespeare in Love" is a truly great film. Joseph Fiennes is wonderful as Shakespeare. I think most people think that Shakespeare was serious and somewhat morbid. But I have always pictured Shakespeare as a man with a passion for life, and Joseph Fiennes had that passion, he showed us the passion. Gwyneth Paltrow on the other hand, was not bad, nor was she good in the film. She can convince me when she speaks a line, but her looks when she speaks does not convince me. When you act, you have got to say and look the way you feel. Can anyone really picture Ben Affleck in a period film? Well, for the part he played, he was fine. He didn't have many lines, so he worked in the part. Everyone else in the film is wonderful. The sets and costumes are great. Everything is perfect. Go see this film.
