If You Only Knew (1999)
Very entertaining.
The low budget production shows throughout the movie, but this is a very well-made and entertaining comedy. Producers and the director did a wonderful job.
Alison Eastwood's acting was terrific and her presence lights up the screen throughout the movie. The first five minutes may put off some viewers, but it quickly picks up the pace and keeps the attention focused on the main element of the movie, romantic relationship and dilemma between the main characters.
The conflict, relationship, personality of characters and the chemistry between the characters shine on the screen.
This small budget production probably will not reach wide audience, but it should work on word-of-mouth. People will feel good about this one after watching it.
Chill Factor (1999)
A good buddy action thriller
It's no "Lethal Weapon", but it's a decent action thriller. Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. sometimes overplays his character (a la "show me the money" attitude) and Skeet Ulrich seems timid at times, but the two actors pull it off as a team. The chase scenes do seem to get redundant.
A good balance of action/suspense/comic keeps it moving. The twist of keeping the bomb at under 50 degrees while being chased by well trained commandos does make it interesting.
It's not a blockbuster actioner, but it should play well to the action fans.
The overall production quality is good.
New Rose Hotel (1998)
A disgrace to filmmaking!
It is by far the worst film I have ever seen!!! The first 65-minute of the film is a disgrace to filmmaking and then the last 20 minutes of the film replays the segments from the first 65-minutes!
This one is really, really, and really bad!!!!!
Diabolique (1996)
Not much going on here
The film never shows any chemistry between the characters and the storyline is flat.
This film should answer why producers should not attempt to remake a classic.
