The Blair Witch Project (1999)
BLAIR WITCH: HIGHLY ORIGINAL, SCARY THRILLER!
I saw this movie in all of its glory at one of the many
sold-out performances of the Sundance Film Festival and it was
incredible! A truly unique conceptual horror-film where the
point-of-view is through the cameras of 3 film students creating
a documentary about the mythical Blair Witch who resides in the
hills of Maryland. Legend has it that she tortures and kills
all that walks into her path.
Well, with that in mind, the film opens with these 3 poor souls
missing for several years, last being seen in a nearby town
asking questions to the creepy locals. All that remains of
their existence is the footage that they shot, which is pieced
together in an attempt to discover the mystery of their
disappearance.
Pretty cool, eh?
Yes, The Blair Witch Project sure is. The directors and writers
Dan Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez are a force to be reckoned with
in the world of independent, thought-provoking film-making. Met
the producers at the fest too, who also should be congratulated
for this exciting movie.
All Shook Up (1999)
Fast-paced, Elvis fun!
I saw this feature film All Shook Up at a recent film fest and I (along with the audience) were rolling in the aisles, laughing so hard! Frank Gorshin is at his mad-cap-Riddler best as a deranged sheriff out to incarcinate a trio of musical country kids who are always 2 steps ahead! Finally, the kids hide-out at a ranch, taken under the wing of a guy who may or may not be the King of Rock and Roll!
Great site gags, mixed with a clever, moving story make this a must for all ELvis/Gorshin fans! Even Sarah Chalke (the pretty Becky from Roseanne) has a great performance as Gorshin's Country Bumpkin ditsy daughter!
