Ulee's Gold (1997)
The depth in character of a hard working honest man
Somehow some people struggle with things in their life that only happens to their neighbours, friends and relatives. They usually are very much into problems, hypocondriacs and complain about everything that so calls happens to them. Words, complaints and so much more you can never stand. This man (Fonda) is none of that. He doesn't complain, he IS always there. When he's asked a favor, he'll do it for the ones he loves. An important movie for those who love the real stuff and who can see truth and beauty in reality. A firm 8!
Bad Company (1995)
Once you are in it, there is no going back ... or?
To be honest; this is one of those movies that you can miss. It's entertaining, not bad acting. Highly on the marketing though. "A tough movie needs to have violence, sex and lots of situations where the bad guy is a good guy?" Is that true? This movie gives you an interesting cast, a nice theme but leaves you with a non-content feeling. It's ok, but there is something about it that makes it quite unnecessary ...
You've Got Mail (1998)
Disappointing if you have the real thing!
This movie was meant to be one where my girlfriend and I were to experience the reflections of our Internet-love. Begin apart for 3 1/2 years didn't bring to the point where I can appreciate a shallow try by the golden couple. Unreal; very controversial and for a fact: not intriguing. It doesn't show the net's potential for love. But what can you expect if the movie wants to fascinate the group of millions; you tend to forget the truth and even better; the importance of details! Wish the news could be better!
The War Room (1993)
Marketing or politics ... or both?
This movie / documentary gives you an impression about what has been cooked before it's served. It's the kitchen and you see the master boiling more than eggs alone. The intriguing part of it all is the simplicity in thinking mostly; it's a complex world, but it comes down to some simple things; polls, how to go about competition and for sure ... what's credible and what's not? The reality of politics ... for real!
The Comfort of Strangers (1990)
Exceptional in setting and personages
One to see if you feel like a good, psychological character-based movie. Straight in your mind, a shot of disgust, beauty and affection combined. The setting is one to go to, the people are interesting and very real and yes; what can you say? Christopher W tells you he's one to watch. The story gives you a blow of inspiration and tells you what the extremes are of the society we live in ...
