they all are already dead before he will commit suicide
5 August 2005
for me personally after making this film L. Malle should have quited his profession because it is his number one which comparing to the other his movies is a giant

first time, i saw this film about 10 years ago and was completely excited about but when I grew up I stated that it is so empty, without soul, without life, without anything what could be priceless. the main hero who wants to commit suicide and people around him who are already dead - they live, talk and walk but don't feel don't miss don't hate and don't love. Everything looks like the royal family (aristocracy) which is childless and the only thing which is left is to die!

the film is filled with emptiness but whenever I watch it I want to live just to see movies like this one

and the end is the best!
5 August 2005
I don't understand why nobody has it commented yet because it is a masterpiece! I don't want to write any plot-walk-through so I will tell you about my feelings:

The story about being good and bad in different conditions, times and places. When obeying rules in one situation can be interpreted as the good behavior but in the other not. ....... we see characters which are in fact born to fight against each other because they see the world in completely different ways ........ we see that in some situations being bad or good is split by a very thin border which is very easy to cross in both directions

...and completely different thing is the way people around see us

everything is very well acted and what is very important with high probability this incredible story could happen in the past

The Big Blue (1988)
Freedom
7 April 1999
This movie is about freedom, inevitability and of course independence. In this film to be free is to be independent. Jacques simply finds his freedom deeply under the surface of water. Nobody tells him what should he do and what should he to believe in...he is alone only for himself. And finally a girl- Johanna fells in love with him. At the first look Jacques is unfair, he only cares about his freedom and doesn't even try to understand her....But in fact it is not that....Jacques is free (the girl wants him to share with it), he doesn't belong to our world, he belongs to the sea. If she wants to love him she must accept this fact, she must love him also for his freedom and doesn't even try to take some for herself...because he will escape.

The best movie, I have ever seen.
7 February 1999
The first time I have seen this film, hmm... It was five years ago and I really do adore that moment. Gush, Carlos Saura must be a genius, Geraldine Chaplin is an unbelievably attractive woman, so delicate and susceptible to pain, Ana Torrent is as magic as every wonderful child in that age.Whenever I feel badly I just play my VHS copy and it walks. This film is like one big secret which I hide, if whenever whoever someone accidential asked me about it I would deny that I have ever seen it and I do it always! ...because saying that you love is like uncovering your soul to dirty world!

I want to go to Madrid just to see film's locations and say hello to Saura..
