The Creation of the Humanoids (1962)
A great story!
One of my favorite movies, even though the camera is static and the dialog is sometimes stilted. What a great plot! The themes that run through the movie, as is often the case with sci fi, are serious and thought provoking, not to mention intriguing! The acting is fine, the sets are sci fi cool, but the plot will hook you. I would love to see this movie remade - what a heck of a movie that would be!
The Crimson Kimono (1959)
One of my favorite movies! I want it on videotape!
If you are a Sam Fuller fan, you will LOVE this movie - it is one of his best. And James Shigeta was my third crush (after Popeye and Turhan Bey). Great movie, with some great location shots in Chinatown. Love it!
Love in Paris (1997)
Absolutely the worst movie I have ever seen.
Idiotic plot, overdramatic "noir" events that do not shock, no chemistry between the leads, a really annoying female lead, wooden acting, from everyone, boring "sex", and poor Mr. Rourke cast in a romantic lead when he no longer looks the part. Just see the original again - it is much better, such as it is.
Dark City (1998)
Fascinating and stunning movie. I loved it!
Wonderful movie! I loved Mr. Proyas' "The Crow" too. I rented this solely because he made it, and I was not disappointed. It is noir, it is science fiction, and it is a mystery as well. Yet - it sort of creates its own niche. I loved the atmosphere, and the evolving plot kept me fascinated to the end. The visuals are just breathtaking also. I am now awaiting Mr. Proyas' next movie! He is a true original.
