Comedian (2002)
This is a well done *documentary*; set your expectations
This is an excellent documentary about Jerry Seinfeld trying to get his standup chops back by going back to small night clubs in NYC and trying out his stuff. The camera follows him from club to club, and in dark smoky corner tables you see some candid conversations between him and the hard working Colin Quinn (SNL) about what it takes to be a comedian. Colin is hilareous! Also, the camera takes a side journey and follows Orney Adams, a very neurotic up and coming comedian who's neurosis and self doubt is actually extremely funny.
This is not a comedy per se, nor strictly Jerry Seinfeld standup material. You have to be interested in the behind the scenes of a comedians life to enjoy this film.
Storefront Hitchcock (1998)
Captures some of what a Robyn show is like
If you've only heard his albums you're missing most of the experience. Here's a chance to get a good idea of the joy that is a Hitchcock show.
Natural Born Killers (1994)
Worth it for the Rodney Dangerfield Scene
The against-type Rodney Dangerfield scene is one of the most evil and cynical things I have ever seen caught on film.
The Breakfast Club (1985)
Probably Most Treasured by a particular generation
I'm not sure what folks from other generations would think of this film, but it probably resonates the most with folks who were in HS during the time of it's release because of the music, etc.
