White Chamber (2018)
I don't often review on here, but...
I love when you stumble across a movie, and having no expectations - it floors you to the point that you geel the need to add an alternative argument to the "top reviews"
Yes, it has flaws. Yes, it has holes in the script. But if you can push past those dectractions, this is quite a compelling movie.
The script is tight, if somewhat convenient - slash contrieved. However the acting is top notch, and the underlying commentary on "the state Earth 2019" - while exaggerated - is relevant.
I cannot help but recommend this movie of you have grave misgivings about the future direction of mankind.
Captain Marvel (2019)
So many poor little insecure MRA haters
The haters reaction to this film can be summed up as "tell me where the mean Captain Marvel dented your poor, fwagile male ego". Their reaction to this film is more a sad indictment of their insecurities, than any valid critique of the film.
The actors did a fine job. The actions pieces were amazing. The special effects were fine. The only criticisms I have is that the plot was a little tired, and the fact that Captain Marvel is so powerful why didn't Fury reach out to her earlier to put an end to Thanos' plot?
Don't believe the haters that will never know the touch of a real woman. Go, buy the big popcorn and soda, then sit back and enjoy the show.
Snow Falling on Cedars (1999)
A Beautiful and Emotional Movie
What a movie to see first up in the new year.
This is such an amazing movie. Easily the most beautiful and picturesque movie I have seen in a long time. The cinematography deserves an Oscar and I think that Scott Hicks' also deserves one for his direction. The musical score is powerful and emotive, and is a perfect catalyst for the images that unfold on the screen. The result is a breathtaking and powerful story overflowing with love, mystery, prejudice, loss and countless other overtones.
I may have seen this in Y2K, but make no mistake, this is one of the best movies made in 1999.
Le violon rouge (1998)
Admiration for an Amazing Film
"The Red Violin" could very well be the best movie that I have ever seen, and I almost missed my chance to see it!
No film that I can recall has captivated me in such a way as "The Red Violin" did. The passion, beauty and mystery surrounding this movie make it a cinematic treat that I will remember for many years to come. The images flooding from the screen are so rich and diverse, showing how people so different from each other can be affected by the same passion making this a truly amazing movie to view. This movie has so much depth and substance to it which make it a movie that I will never tire of watching.
Cruel Intentions (1999)
So ridiculous it's almost entertaining...
Have you ever laughed so hard that you thought that you'd burst a blood vessel? Well that's what I felt like after seeing this movie. I haven't found a movie this amusing in a long time (even if it was unintentional). I have a smirk on my face just thinking about this film.
Whether it is a rich exclusive private school student with a dope problem or teenagers in this film being more deceitful, manipulative and vicious than some of the world's most ruthless dictators, or other, even more unbelievably improbable circumstances, this movie is comical on most levels.
This is the most fun that you'll ever have laughing at a movie that is not a comedy.
