Sense and Sensibility (1995)
A wonderful film!!!
I read the book by Jane Austin many years ago and I was delighted when the story came out on film. The movie was excellent. I really enjoyed the dialogue in the film. Emma Thompson's screenplay definitely deserved the Oscar. The actors were believable and the casting was very well done. I own this film and would recommend it to anyone.
Pride and Prejudice (1995)
An excellent adaptation of the book
I own this movie and I really think it is excellent. For once a movie followed the book. I liked the older version with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier (who were great actors, but had to deal with a bad screen play that left out a lot of the orignal story and dialogue). The newer version is slow moving, but very enjoyable, it is fun being a part of the Bennet family. All of the roles were perfectly cast. Colin Firth did an excellent job playing Darcy and there was great chemistry between him and Elizabeth. If you like period films and romantic films, this one is a great one.
Jesus of Nazareth (1977)
A very moving and human portrayal of the life of Jesus
I think that Franco Zeffirelli is a great director. This film is lovingly crafted and the characters are played out in a very human way. Jesus was a real human, who experienced real pain, emotions etc. I think that Robert Powell was absolutely perfect for the role of Jesus. He had such expressive eyes. This movie is a great testimony of the life of Jesus. Even though there are some scriptural discrepancies it is still a wonderful film, and very beautifully done. This film is among one of my all time favorites.
Frankenstein: The True Story (1973)
An excellent version of Frankenstein
I rented this movie the other night. I was impressed by how many well known actors were in it. The acting was very good. Leonard Whiting was very convincing and seemed to really share a bond with his monster. The monster didn't seem to be all that evil until people started being mean to it. I think the movie tried to show us that beauty is only skin deep. Jane Seymour was excellent. I recommend this movie highly, it is very well done.
Romeo and Juliet (1968)
A very special film!!!
This film is the best version of Romeo and Juliet I have ever seen. Olivia Hussey and Leonard had great chemistry together. The casting was excellent throughout the film. Franco Zeffirelli is a wonderful director who lovingly put this film together. Each detail was carefully constructed to make this film visually beautiful. This is a great film, that really should be included on the list of Top 100 Films of all time.
