Not much here!
22 July 1999
A real long, dull movie. Don't get me wrong. I like movies that are heavy on the talking and light on the action, but this one really was boring. I never thought nudity could be so boring...but it was. And forget about the two stars. Their performance weren't anything to write home, or here, about. The same goes for the co-stars. Next time I go to a Cruise or Kidman movie, I'll be sure to bring a roll of quarters so I can spend the time playing Pacman in the lobby.

what a joke
20 July 1999
I have to admit I didn't see this movie when it was released. I was a pretty lazy 15 year old. When my wife finally talked me into renting it I couldn't believe how bad it was. A cliche in space, as I call it, was incredibly mediocre. Bad acting, bad script, borrowed story. Oh but the special effects! Sorry kids, effects a movie don't make. I guess there's a lot of 7th graders (or folks remembering how great they thought this flick was when they were in 7th grade) voting on this so-called movie. I took my kids to see The Phantom Menace...at least Star Wars was better than that amazing waste of money.

ridiculous

What a joke of a movie. The writing was especially bad...the acting wasn't much better. I like tearjerkers, but this one had me laughing due to the inane dialogue. What a joke!

Why can't American films be like this?
9 May 1999
What a ride! A terrific film that keeps the pace going. This flick deserved much more than it got. Rent it and be prepared to be disturbed...yet I found myself laughing quite a bit.

Skinheads (1989)
Chuck does it again!
9 May 1999
Chuck at his best. This is one of "The Rifleman's" last films. He plays a good guy who helps some kids being chased by skinheads. Chuck is by far the most believable character in this less than good film. It would be terrible if it didn't have Mr. Connors acting.

A must see for any Chuck Connors fan.

Chuck at his best!

Okay, so I'm a big Chuck Connors fan...so maybe that's why I liked this film more than say if Mike Connors played the lead. Chuck, in a dual role, pulls it off brilliantly. Why this guy (and I heard from people who worked with him that he was really a nice guy) didn't get more credit (and bigger roles) is beyond me.

A Mexican Wrestling classic
9 May 1999
Samson is the finest superhero of filmdom. A caped, masked Mexican wrestler who drives a sportscar. What more could you want.

He doesn't say much, but that doesn't matter when you're dealing with the undead.

The final scene is muy bueno. Much better than Forrest Gump!

The English Impatient
27 April 1999
Sure the cinematography is great, but that's about it. The only thing I wanted to end more than that traitor's life was this film.

I didn't care about any of the characters except William DaFoe (I kind of liked Kip too). And that "great" scene where Kip lifts her up to see the paintings. Boring.

This movie, not unlike a mouthful of sand, left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Another fine example of another less than mediocre movie winning the Academy Award.
