Piedras verdes (2001)
Amores Perros was better...
I've just seen this movie and I have mixed feelings about it because it started good, in fact I thought that this was going to be a great movie, but later it turns slow and somewhat boring. Angel Flores Torres is a great music video director and it really shows here very beatiful shots and scenes very much in a music video fashion. Look for some cameos by the singer of Botellita de Jerez (I don't remember his name) and a busty gay who appears on Cafe Tacuba's video "Chilanga Banda". And speaking of Cafe Tacuba and all the soundtrack really fits the movie, somewhat like The Dust Brother's soundtrack in Fight Club. Go and see this, but don't expect too much.
Chespirito (1970)
The best comical actor.
I you ask which is the best Mexican (or even latin-american) comic show it is without any doubt Chespirito. All of Roberto Gómez Bolaños characters became icons of the popular culture, including: El Chavo del 8, El Chapulín Colorado, El Chómpiras, Chaparrón Bonaparte, etc (notice the trademark letter "CH" in every name). If you happen to have a chance to watch the re-runs on Mexican TV (Televisa) do it, you'll have a loud laugh with other characters such as Quico, Don Ramón, El Profesor Jirafales and many more. Too bad that the show became a little slow on it's last days, but anyway the best are the early episodes.
