Villa Alegre (1973)
Cool Kids Show
All I remember was the theme song! "La la la la la la la la la la VILLA ALEGRE! La la la la la la " And they all spoke spanish and in each episode you would learn a word like "Agua" while they showed you a glass of water. Fell in the same genre as "Electric Company" and "Vegetable Soup".
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Amazing
I hate to use that word, however, it is the only word to describe this film. I cannot believe this powerful script. You will be moved,I jumped, I screamed and I cried. But most of all I was AMAZED. Please go see this movie, that's all I can say.
Sports Night (1998)
Believe the Hype!
What a pleasant surprise! This show is so smart and subtle it's scary. I'm not a big t.v. watcher, but I can tell you that every Tuesday I am watching this great show. Great acting, writing and a fresh look make this show stand out. Please give yourself a treat, WATCH THIS SHOW!! You'll be hooked too. Enjoy! Oh and gbakes, if you're reading this, I'd say it even if you weren't on the show. BUT because you are it's even more fun to watch!
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)
Brave!
I was lucky enough to catch a screening of this movie, all I can say is WOW! I don't know how they got an R rating. This movie pushes every button, racial, sexual and everything in between. The movie starts out with the boys going to see an R rated movie, they return to school using the same foul language that they heard in the film. After the parents of South Park get wind of this they form a censorship coalition to ban the movie. The movie centers around the boys trying to save the stars of their favorite movie (Terence & Philip) from being executed. It's one hilarious thing after another, including musical numbers! Go ahead brave souls! This movie is definitely BIGGER,LONGER AND UNCUT!!
Rushmore (1998)
Brilliant, Fresh & Subtle
This is by far my favorite movie in YEARS. It isn't so much the story that defines this movie, but the characters. When Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman's characters fall for the same woman, we see that adults really are no different than kids when it comes to getting something (or someone) that we want. Bill Murray's best performance EVER! A truly funny and heartwarming look into the life of a well adjusted teenager who DEFINITELY marches to the beat of his own drum. Max Fisher, where were you when I was 15?
