G2 (1999)
COMBINE HIGHLANDER & MARTIAL ARTS AND YOU GET.....
G2 has a pretty good idea (albeit though original one) with Daniel Bernhardt as a Macedonian warrior who is reincarnated 200 years later to do battle with a sinister Mongolian clan led by James Hong. The action sequences are fair at best and I found myself trying to decide if this movie was a "self-contained' film or the pilot for a possible series. Overall, it wasn't really that bad and who knows now that HIGHLANDER is off the air here......
Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite (1999)
DEFINITELY THE DARKEST ONE YET....
If the franchise is to survive than it is imperative that the producers stick to the original idea. #4 is not related to the prior entries other than the fact that this stars Daniel Bernhardt. In the two prior entries, Bernhardt played Alex Cardo, an art dealer who learns the way of the Kumite to better himself. #4 finds him playing a new character, John Keller, a cop who participates in illegal street fights. When inmates start turning up missing at a local prison, Keller is asked to cover undercover to find out what is going on. Once in, he finds out that he has been targeted by the crazed Caesar to participate in a mysterious Kumite event. This film draws parallels to JCVD "Death Warrant" but the script and direction need work. Bloodsport 4 is watchable, thanks mainly to Bernhardt's screen presence.

633 Squadron (1964)
Hooked from the start.....
From Ron Goodwin's score to the lead characters as played by both Cliff Robertson and George Chakiris, this movie catches you right from the beginning. Keep in mind that 633 Squadron is just one of the many WW2 films turned out in the early to mid-60s with half-way decent production values. Robertson plays the commander of the titled RAF squadron who fly the fabulous deHavilland Mosquito who are "volunteered" for a
dangerous mission to knock out a German factory situated in a Norwegian fjord. Chakiris plays a Norwegian resistance leader who is attached to the squadron to guide them through the nuances of the fjord as the squadron prepares for their mission. A definite winner...
Hell Is for Heroes (1962)
Mr. Spielberg Should Give A Nod...
This is a gritty WW2 film with Steve McQueen in excellent form as a soldier who only knows war (or its horrors) and the squad that wants to go home to which he is assigned. Noteworthy among the cast are Fess Parker, James Coburn, Nick Adams and Bob Newhart. Combining a gritty feel with some live footage, director Don Siegel should be given a nod by Steven Spielberg since his "Saving Private Ryan" has the same feel. A definite must see for WW2 film buffs. Also, compare McQueen's role as Reese in this film with his role as a B-17 bomber pilot in his film "The War Lover".
