Surviving Picasso (1996)
Wonderfully performed biographical piece.
As far as context goes, I had already known most of the material from biographies in other sources. There were only a couple new aspects to this one. The acting was superb. Anthony Hopkins and Natascha McElhone were passionate and believable. It portrays Picasso's nature as narrated by one of his former lovers. It's NOT a fluff piece, but you shouldn't end up hating him unless you did already.
The Matrix (1999)
The most FUN movie experience in a while.
This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time! The effects were great! The plot was (Ah!) Original. Yes. And, of course, everyone loves seeing the good guys run around beating up the bad guys while dressing fashionably. I just enjoy watching them do things that regular people can't do. I can't wait to buy it.
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)
Better than I was expecting.
This movie was surprising well made. I had read the book, and was expecting typical Hollywood drivel. The content was about as accurate as a modern movie, based on a novel, ever gets. The representations were wonderful. Brutal, yet emotional. Go see it, if you haven't already.
