Claire Dolan (1998)
Wonderful
This movie is unlike any other american movie I've seen in quite a long time now. It is good to know that there is still hope for the american cinema industry, that not everyone is interested in making horrible films only because they might be successful, because, honestly, I am tired of watching movies with weak scripts, horrible acting and incompetent direction. This movie proves that not everything is lost, specially because it was made by a young director, which means he can and, hopefully, will still surprise us with lots of wonderful films. "Claire Dolan" along with "Judy Berlin" are two of the best american movies of the new generation I've seen.
Maman, y'a un monstre dans mon lit (2000)
uau!
This is definitely the best short movie I have ever seen, it is so shocking and even, somehow, scary, that I covered my face with my hand at one point(no, I am not those kind of women, who scream in "Urban Legend" or "I Know What You Did Last Summer"). This short is really extremely strong, but at the same time, does not show everything that happens, most of the times it is just insinuated, which makes it even better. I watched the short in the SP Movie Festival before a movie called "Angels of the Universe", which I did not like, but the short was worth all the hours I lost. So do not miss it, if you have the chance to watch it. I am not going to tell the story, because I think it will be better without knowing it.
Exotica (1994)
What can I say - Atom Egoyan
This director is a genius, all his movies are so original and unique. Every time I see them, they just keep getting better an better.
If you ask me I would say he created his own style of movies, something between dramas and thrillers. I recommend this and all his other movies for anyone.
Magnolia (1999)
An instant classic
Anderson outdid himself again.... well he had only done Boogie Nights before (best of 98, or was it 97?). All I can say is that this is a wonderful movie that drinks in the fountain of Altman´s "Short Cuts" but has the agility of Anderson´s camera. Anderson´s style, in my opinion, is very similar to Martin Scorsese´s.. and that only adds more credit to this wonderful, very well acted (by Moore specially), well directed and wonderfully written movie... I hope academy members remember this movie at the end of the year as they should´ve remembered Boogie Nights.... 9,5 - 10 ---; Best movie of the year so far
Oh.... waiting for "Bringing out the Dead"
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
A very good film
One of the best horror films I´ve ever saw. It maybe not scary, but that doesn´t mean nothing. I don´t get scared often. So I really recommend " Rosemary´s Baby" is a brilliant movie, with a surprising ending
The Witness (1993)
An involving Tv-Movie
This TV-Movie doesn't need dialogues to get your attention The duration is perfect (not very long), the actors are good (Gary Sinise and Elijah Wood) and the music is essential. Worth watching.
The Sweet Hereafter (1997)
...
There are no words to describe this movie. In my opinion one of the best movies ever made. Absolutely beautiful, great actors, good story... In one word : perfect Don´t think twice about watching this movie. You going to be sorry if you don´t.
