Double Jeopardy (1999)
it could have been done better...
Double Jeopardy is the kind of film that someone rents on video in order to have a great 2-hour entertainment. Actually the film looks ok even in the big screen thanks to a very beautiful leading actress (Ashley Judd is completely ravishing) and an intriguing plot (at least at the beginning). Problems appear along with the introduction of Tommy Lee Jones role (a very weak performance) and continue with the more and more unbelievable screenplay. My final verdict on this film is that it's a great action/drama combination and a very entertaining film but of no artistic value. In other words : it could have been done better.
Peppermint (1999)
A bittersweet voyage back in the age of innocence.
"Peppermint" was probably the best Greek film for 1999. It 's the story of a personal voyage, a middle-aged man's voyage back to his age of innocence in the decades of the 50's and the 60's. The story is vibrant and full of emotions both sweet, funny and bitter. The music 's great and the acting outstanding, especially Annie Loulou's award winning performance. Don't miss it !
Keys to Tulsa (1997)
Not perfect, but interesting enough...
I saw this movie late at a Saturday night on Tv and after all I think it worth staying awake . It's not a perfect or even a very good film but it has a very interesting story and many well-known performers in big or small roles. Acting is not at it's best though I would like to mention Deborah Unger's performance (or should I say magnetism). It's kind of reminding me those doomed generation movies of the 80's like "Less than zero" or so. Anyway I rate it with a straight 9 out of 10 for personal reasons, for all of you that haven't seen it yet, I think that at least it worth a look!
