Open Range (2003)
Good ole Western
Open Range is a great old fashioned western with some solid performances and some of the best scenery in a long while. No cgi, car crashes and sex scenes just a nicely paced nice to look at film. This move is without a doubt well made with a slow but even pace and great characterizations and a very good score. I highly recommend this to all who want a good night of movie viewing. A shame this film did not received more recognition....4 stars.
Agent Cody Banks (2003)
Rip Off
Absolutely lousy rip off of The Spy Kids movie this movie is absolutely lame and was obviously made to cash in on Frankie Muniz fame. Frankie Muniz has not had a good performance since My Dog Skip. And to think they are making a sequel, God help us.
Once Were Warriors (1994)
Absolutely Brilliant
This movie is almost 10 years old and I just saw it tonight and I was left emotionally drained. This movie is one of the best I have ever seen the acting was first rate and the emotions left me drained I would recommend this to anyone but beware or it's stark reality. This is a wonderfully directed and acted film.
Little Secrets (2001)
Sheer Delight
Little Secrets was a gem of a movie picked up only because the big hits were out, and boy was a glad for that. This is a warm hearted and utterly believable little film about teens and kids. The performances by the lead teen stars is so believable I forgot I was watching a Movie, the young kids are so real I swear it was like peering into a real life situation. Kudos to all of the and a tip of the hat to young Landon Kunzelamn as Mikey he cracked me up. Great little movie, don't pass it by on the shelves.
Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams (2002)
Boring Junk
This looks like it was made in a weekend, what garbage the plot is dumb and the set is obviously fake. Anything for a quick buck only kids will like this one. And to think there is a third sequel coming, God help us.
Poltergeist (1982)
well done in every detail
Poltergeist is one of the best ghost stories ever made, this movie is well done in every area. From the music of Jerry Goldsmith (excellent as usual) to the editing by Michael Kahn and the special effects. Even after these many years this movie is till a good watch,Spielberg's mark is all over it despite the directing credit going to Tobe Hooper. Highly recommended.
The Towering Inferno (1974)
Best Disaster Movie ever!
I was 14 when I sat in amazement and watched this movie,in those days they never bothered you if you stay and watch a film twice and I did with this gem. Two years earlier I saw "The Poseidon Adventure" and I thought that was the best but then this surpassed it. At that time the special effects are first rate and having Newman and McQueen together was sweet.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
Loud and Dumb..but Fun
This movie is so loud that the very act of opening a locked box, sounds like a nuclear explosion. It was fun, but it was unbelievable had virtually no story and way too many sfx..and not well done I might add. The young boys language..come on no way an 8 year old kid in 1935 talked that way. I think the script writer forgot that this was 1935 not 1995...too many holes.
Empire of the Sun (1987)
I love this
When this movie was first shown I was 1 year old, I just watched it on video because I heard the kid in it was the bad guy from Shaft. I loved it, I was caught up in his whole story, this was a good movie and Christian Bale's acting was one of the best I have seen by an actor my age.
Midnight Run (1988)
Best movie of the 80's
This is a great film and one of the best ever made. Midnight Run has it all, one of my fav scenes is when Deniro met his daughter after ten years and she is now in grade 8. It was played with the right kind of awkwardness by Deniro..a great actor.
Dutch (1991)
Enjoyable
I really like Dutch and watch it every year around thanksgiving. The young boy in this movie has to be the most obnoxious character I have ever seen portrayed by a child actor. However as the film went on it was great seeing him transform into a kid with some heart and you warm up to him.
Forever Young (1992)
Enjoyable movie
Forever Young is one of my all time favorites, it combines a great story with excellent performances from Mel Gibson,Jamie Lee Curtis and child actor Elijah Wood. Definitely one of my favorite Gibson flicks, and I always enjoy watching Elijah Wood who in my opinion was one of the finest child actors of his time.
Seinfeld (1989)
There was none better
And neither will there be,this is absolutely the funniest show ever. Kramer is my favorite, just by entering the room he gets me laughing. I hope they make a Seinfeld movie,a movie about nothing. I get to watch this show sometimes 5 times a night if I am at home.
Sesame Street (1969)
Happy 30th to the best kids show ever.
I love Street, thats what I called it as a child. All my friends grew up watching this fun and educational show. Even today I get a thrill whenever I glimpse it on TV. Love it! Love it hope it plays forever. "Can you tell me how to get..how to get to Sesame Street".
The Thin Red Line (1998)
liked it better than Saving Private Ryan
Yes i did, and that say a lot because the Steven Spielberg flick was great. Thin Red Line is lyrical and almost poetic, it shows the war from another dimension. In a strange way it has it's war is hell brutality but the location setting is so beautiful it offers a stark contrast to the violence unfolding before our eyes. Unlike Ryan whose brutal violence is set against the stark bleak war torn European settings. Well Done.
Poltergeist (1982)
well done in every detail
Poltergeist is one of the best ghost stories ever made, this movie is well done in every area. From the music of Jerry Goldsmith (excellent as usual) to the editing by Michael Kahn and the special effects. Lucas (1986)
A winner
This is not a classic but it is one sweet little film. Sure it is sappy, but it is more true to life than many teen flicks.Corey Haim was good as was Sheen, who not long after made "Platoon". This movie made me feel good, and is worth a rent on video.
Max Is Missing (1995)
Surprisingly Good little Adventure
Max is Missing is an enjoyable adventure that is fun for the entire family. The photography is great and the whole thing plays well. Good harmless fun.
The Negotiator (1998)
A solid action flick
The Negotiator is one of the best films of it's release year,in a summer of loud dumb flicks. This is a well crafted and smart action flick, that does not cheat the viewers. I loved it, and rate it high..great performance by Spacey and Jackson and a solid cast all around.
