Lake Mungo (2008)
Not scary, lame Twin Peaks wannabe movie
Seems like the movie was trying to be fashioned after Twin Peaks, even so far as having the family named Palmer. Dead girl pulled from the water, check. Teen girl with secret life, check. Unnecessary sordid sex scene, check. Based on the reviews saying what a great scary movie this was, I forced myself to sit through the whole thing. There wasn't a single scare in this movie, total snooze fest, with boring plot twists. If you are looking for a good horror movie, this isn't it. If you're wanting to watch a poorly made found footage film about a family dealing with grief, then maybe this is for you.
The Silver Brumby (1993)
Stunning Visuals
I truly wish that this movie would have been shown in theatres in the US instead of going directly to video. The visuals were absolutely stunning, especially the scenes of the brumbies galloping freely.
The basic premise of the story about the Man's obsession for the Silver Brumby was excellent. The medium of the mother relating the story to her daughter was also handled well, but some of the other scenes with the mother and daughter distracted from the flow of the film. Especially the scenes with the kangaroo. To me they seemed disjointed as if they were just thrown in hodgepodge.
Overall I loved the movie and will watch it again for the Australian scenery and horse scenes.
The Princess Bride (1987)
Absolutely the BEST Movie ever made!!!!!
This is by far the best movie ever for all ages to enjoy. The Princess Bride has a little bit of everything -- comedy, adventure, romance you name it, it's there. The story is all about - True Love - and that with it you can survive unspeakable odds and events. It tells of the love between Westley and Buttercup, the gallant Inigo Montoya on a quest to honor his father, and the obnoxious Prince Humperdincks quest to have Buttercup for his own. The rapport between the characters is wonderful giving leave to some of the best quotes that you still hear people reciting today! My favorite line has to be "Ello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, now prepare to die!" If you have not seen this movie, please rent it and then see if you don't fall in love with it too.
A Christmas Story (1983)
The best movie to get you in the mood for the holidays!
A Christmas Story is one of my family's favorite movies that we love to watch each holiday season. Who hasn't been through at least one or two of the experiences Ralphie had that winter. Whether it be the bullies on the playground or getting in trouble for using some of your fathers more colorful language. Most kids and adults growing up in suburban America will fall in love with this story. It is a true Christmas Classic.
