Pat Sajak Weekend (2003)
Pretty Decent Short-Lived Show
Fox News Channel gave Pat a second chance to have his own show. This time it was on Sunday nights and it was pretty good. It was a regular sit down talk show with some rather A list stars like Regis Philbin, Kate Mulgrew, Vanna White and many others. I was sad to see it fail but I guess Fox News wanted a more news oriented show rather than a talk show.
The Pulse (2002)
We Are The Pulse!
The Fox News Channel, the number one-rated cable news network, introduces the its newest news magazine to the Fox Network. Hosted by Shepard Smith, The Pulse brings its viewers great stories from the War on Terror to Ozzy Osbourne. Pieces from Geraldo Rivera, Linda Vester and Catherine Herridge and many more esteemed Fox News reporters is what makes this series great. Weekly commentary from Bill O'Reilly's pieces, Who's Annoying Me Now? and Factor This, are two of the many reasons why America keeps watching him. Laurie Dhue piece's, The Pulse of America, gives the chance to let Americans voice their opinions on certain current topics. Finally The Pulse 8, Shepard Smith brings the viewers the wackiest, coolest and most shocking scenes of the week. What this show brings is a whole new sense of the network news magazine, with strobe lights, fog machines and a catchy theme song. The show debuted on July 18, 2002 and ran through out the summer and is returning the winter of 2003. If Fox can put this astounding series on a decent night, Dateline NBC and 20/20 should watch out! Fox will have Stone shaking in his bones!
2 Minute Drill (2000)
More Like The 2 Hour Drill
I honestly loved the first season. It was great watching Michael Davies (Millionaire) whip out another game show. This one was for the ultimate sports fan who knew questions like "How many home runs did Hank Aaron have when he went up to bat on Wednesdays?". The contestants would whip out the correct answers before the questions ended to the point where all the questions would be completed with 30 seconds left which always lead to what stations hate "dead air time". So super sports genius won Season 1 and 2. This guy could answer anything! Then when season 2 and 3 came the format was changed to the point where the game went so slow it became boring, Mayne told the players now that they had to wait until the question was finish before they could answer. That was the biggest mistake ESPN and company did. They did that so Disney could implement Enhanced TV. The panelist in season 2 read the questions like they did not rehearse them before the show and what happen sometimes was Kenny had to finish the question for the panel member. Then ESPN showed its lack of faith and put the show to late night. My hope is that Davies come out with either a revamping of the show (like Sports on Tap) or creates another sports game show (how about Sports Jeopardy or Millionaire Sports Edition?). This show was so great that nothing for it had to be tinkered with after season 1 to make it better, but they did and the outcome was for the worse.
Survivor (2000)
The Tribe Has Spoken: It looks like another smash hit!
Well it seems like yesterday Jeff Probst read off the names and awarded Richard Hatch a million dollars and a Pontiac Aztek. This version after one episode already shows fierce rivalry within the groups. We said goodbye to Debb last Sunday and the show looks like the elders will go first and then the young shall eat its own. The location of Cairns, Australia is basically more outback than you can get. The tribes Kucha (Kangaroo) and Ogakor (Crocodile) will battle every three days but the contest has been extended 3 days this time. I guess in the next weeks we will see the same as we saw on Pulai Tiga, intense rivalry, civil wars and a lot of upset PETA protesters. In the end one person will home 1 million dollar rich and a Pontiac Aztek. The first thing to do whomever wins, sell the Aztek.
Winning Lines (2000)
I Will Never Have Sleeping Problems Again
In what is the most boring game show in the World, Dick Clark does not bring out the humor that he shows on Pyramid. This game show is a rip off out Millionaire. I hope no one ever sees the reruns. This game is so is so boring I fall asleep watching it almost always.
