Untold (2021)
Sympathy piece for the villain
It is amazing how sickeningly sympathetic this documentary is to the predator.
Te'o was such a kind and caring young man who got his heart broken for the lulz, not to mention how talented he was, and he had possible major opportunities stolen away from him because of the media fallout from the ordeal.
Ronaiah is a disgusting sociopathic* (*not too sure if that's the accepted term anymore) human being with no remorse and is by far THE WORST parts of program. He made one call to say "I apologize (for the story coming out)".
One would hope for some sort of comeuppance, but, being on Dr. Phil is the only punishment to be seen.
Is It Cake? (2022)
Is It Fake?
What is with the casting for this show?!
The host is truly fake and obnoxious, the guests are forgettable, most of the contestants were reasonably talented but they must've picked up all the male ones from the same nightclub, and some of the "cakes" were just molded milk chocolate in my opinion.
They had me at the premise, but lost me soon after.
American Horror Stories (2021)
I tried...
I wanted to give this series a chance.
I got past the first, very annoying, two-episode arc and watched episode three hoping for a change of pace, only to get immediately greeted with more D grade teen drama.
I'm really not sure what audience they're trying to target, but, I'll wait for the next real AHS season.
Baketopia (2021)
Disappointing first episode
The first episode was so bad that I just can't continue watching. It's a copied show format with a rather bland host and judges with very poor judgment.
Into the Dark: My Valentine (2020)
This is the most Gen-Z thing ever
It gets a star for music and attempt at style, otherwise another forgettable Into The Dark entry.
Escape the Night (2016)
Nothing but YouTubers on a playground
The premise piqued my interest because I'm a fan of mysteries, game shows, fantasies, and even period pieces.
This "show" has YouTubers running around for a little while before Joey the show creator just walks up and hands them the next clue to move the convoluted story along. It's not satisfying as a reality show or a fictional story, I suppose it's satisfying if you idolize YouTubers or aren't looking for anything challenging or well structured, just mindless activity.
I do think there was nice work put into the backstory of the house's history, aka the vignettes that set up the tasks, and the actors within some of the vignettes were pretty good. I also think the set design wasn't bad.
3/10. It's YouTubers on a playground, but at least the playground looked nice.
