ok, but way too american
23 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm watching the 1st season, and the plot is ok, with sometimes some cliches, but well, who cares ? But there is something that bothers me very much about these US series. The rest of the world (besides stupid russians) doesn't exist. Only the us has been able to see that a HUGE meteorite is coming to destroy earth. Thank you US of A, the rest of the world didn't see it coming. There are no observatories in the rest of the world. Sometimes, as a European, I just regret that the script of this kind of series revolves only around the USA. It's is so stupid, for me. But I'm assuming that the americans looking at it don't realize the absurdity of it, as their country is the only one they know... supposedly.

But otherwise, besides this nonsense, it's good.

booooooooring

Bing, crash, hugh, wow, puff, ah, ho, that's about the dialog that is repeated over and over. It's stupidly violent, no scenario, no nothing. Others had say it already, and I cannot understand why this kind of movie is even nominated for something, the fighting choreography apart. It's more a video game with God mode on for the hero, rather than a movie. Total crap. I put 2 instead of one, because of the choreography of the fighting scenes, that are crazy to i. Besides, it's not worth a dime.

Very very disappointing
27 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I am a great fan of the comic book series Valeria and Laureline (in French, I don't know it they have been translated) It is supposed to be an adaptation of "L'ambassadeur des ombres" (The ambassador of the shadows) From the beginning of their story to the end, Christin (writer) and Mézières (illustrator) were so good and innovative. I heard the interview of the latter, saying that it was just unbelievable as the movie was like the book, that I wanted to see this movie. I was sooo disappointed. The characters are NOT at all like the ones in the book, they are kind of soft, nothing to compare with, and even if the plot is vaguely resembling, it has nothing to do. The only characters that are true to the book are the three "Shingouz" (don't remember the names in the movie) that are very well made. Even if the story is not so bad in itself, the actors are not at all in the mood of the book series.

XIII: The Series (2011–2012)

+st series is great, second is bad
21 November 2015
I'm a French speaking guy, and I have the whole comic series of XIII in French (!) and the scenario was just great (comic speaking) So I watched the 2 first episodes, and they were very good, loved them ! THen I watched the first series(s?) , that even if it was not very following the original script was good as well. But when I started looking at series 2, I was so disappointed ! First it has nothing to do with the books whatsoever, the characters are totally different, even from the 1st series, and like some other reviewer said, some of the acting is very bad. So I would put a 8 for the 1st series, and a 2 for the second. It looks like they had to come out with something to continue the series, and they had no idea whatsoever. I stopped watching after 2 episodes. So unbelievable. One can smell the $$$ that needed to be made after a good 1st one.... :-(

OK, but Seagall must retire by now
31 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After looking the other 4 reviews, I thought it might be not so bad. And I was not disappointed. It was not That bad. I gave it a 4, because some fighting scenes are sooooooo stupid, that it didn't even convinced someone like me who enjoys a good beating in movies, especially when it's exaggerated. I was wondering if when 2 guys are shooting each other, maybe some fun would have happened. Like I shoot, you hide, you shoot, I hide, my turn, your turn, I move, you move and finally we fight like men, with our bare fists. After a while it's a little boring. Otherwise, Like I said in the title, Seagall, whom I liked in his debuts, either has to retire or to get on some serious diet. I felt sorry for him, Especially when he was wearing his gear, he looked more like a clown in disguise than a brute. I don't think I'm gonna see the movie twice.

too Long, slow, boring
9 April 2007
I wouldn't say that it is a bad film, but De Niro is better when he is on the other side of the camera. This film is way to long, with the same kind of scenes all along ( camera on somebody - still - no dialog - we are waiting - what's gonna happen next ? oh ! just a phrase with 3 words...) and besides, it's hard to understand what's going on with all the flashbacks coming and going. You must have a paper and pencil to record all the dates and times to remember when things happened.

And saying that this film is a thriller..... well, depends of course of the definition of thriller. A positive point is that I think it depicts quite well the atmosphere of the time, suspicion everywhere, even your parents, always look behind you.

I'm glad I didn't go to the movies to see it.

Question : what's Joe Pesci doing in this film ??????

Boooring
20 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I rented this movie, and before doing so, I went on IMDb, 7.6 ! Not bad ! I wish I read the 1 vote comments before, because all the ones I read after I pout it back was sooooo true. Yes, it can be poetic, but this new-age kind of wavy moves, it's so unreal. Like when Poc shoes the eyes, or water or whatever, if you try to describe something like she does, I can tell you that Capt. Smith is VERY intelligent to understand what she means. When you want to learn a language, you usually show the thing, not describe it sophistically (I don't find the right word, I'm not English speaking) That makes no sense. So we didn't even look at ti till the end. We stopped after 45 min. Like someone else said, if you don't like action movie, just go and look at this one.

Bad, really bad
3 January 2006
I was VERY disappointed by this movie. Romantic ? Well one can say that, but the plot is a mess, hard to understand, and the "funny" scenes remind me of the humor of the early 1900 films. Jackie Chan is good into what he did for a long time, this try is a failure. As for the actress, she just cannot play, as many others who just don't fit in this movie. Good actions scenes, though. Like I said , that's what Chan is good at. I looked at the DVD (I didn't buy it thanks!!) and I had to put the original version with subtitles, the English version is just SO bad. Scenes come and go, with this girl being there without any reason, the plot is just botched. All the so-called humorous scenes are NOT funny. It's not even a second or third degree humor. Don't waste money on this film. Lend it from somebody if you really want to see it.
