Signs (2002)
are you blind with signs?
seriously people, what are you thinking? This movie is the most over-rated, hyped up and a big let down. I have never been this dissappointed by a film for a long time. This movie didn't scare me at all, spoilers**** the alien looks amateurish, sloppy, and downright stupid. How could it not know water was dangerous and why didn't the alien just bust through the doors if it was supposedly hostile? I can't believe all the good ratings this movie gets. Unbelievable. 60 million for this piece of crap. Are people that desperate enough to go see this movie again? I haven't seen one good Hollywood movie this year and it's not going to get any better with all the sequels, retreads, and derivatives. Believe me, I wasn't expecting a great movie from M Night. I expected a solid, believable plot lines and characters. What I saw was a piece of pretentious, boring and flawed film. Even the critics got this one wrong. The ending reeks of a touch with an angel television show. Do me a favor, if you are tired of Hollywood recycled films and if you want to see something new, scary and unpredictable, go rent Audition or I Stand Alone. And the last thing, Blockbusters stop renting videos that are boring and take all the shelves, expensive rental price and give us at least 5 good movies outside of Hollywood a month. Is this too much too ask?
Chong xiao lou (1982)
this film needs to be updated
I saw this movie on videotape. The copy of this film is terrible. Most of the time, I couldn't read the dialogue or saw what was going on. The most intriguing thing about the movie, as the the title suggest, is the house itself. Apparently, some royal king decided it would be best to hide a valuable artifact in a house filled with traps. Not only with bodyguards of swordsmen but with grounds that popped out with long spears and stairs that chopped off legs. The artifact is on top level of the house. I still don't get why anyone who knows about the trap insist on going up that way. Why couldn't they just go on top of the house and drop in from there like Tom Cruise did in Mission Impossible 2. The only reason to see this movie are the traps but you have to sit around for a long time to see that. It could've been more interesting if I knew what the characters were talking about. I couldn't tell why they were fighting each other. Anyone who has a better copy of this please tell me where they got it.
Gik do chung faan (1998)
A well done action packed drama
Ringo Lam goes over the top in this movie, similar to Heat. The beginning of the movie is slow paced but picks up at high speed by the end of the movie. I highly recommend it to action fans who love John Woo. I find myself confused by the plot during the last stage but that's a minor problem.
