Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (1988)
cool show
This is a very nice show. The characters have interesting personalities, and for once, an anime woman is not portrayed as an idiot. Nia is an intelligent young woman who helps the Ronin Warriors on their quest. The action is intense, and the plot is interesting, while still easy to understand, should you intrude in the middle of the series. However, if you dislike cartoons that are drawn using older techniques (the type of animation that, for whatever reason, looks like it was made in the late eighties) than you should avoid this show, since it was made in 1988.
X-Men (2000)
kid/teen flick
This is a decent all around movie for teens, preteens, et al. While it does include a bit of violence (come on, blades protrude from Wolverine's hands, what do you expect?), most of the fighting is the sort done by people who can control lightning- in other words, not realistic. Also, there is a thread of be-nice-to-strangers running through the movie, exemplified by Wolverine's driving Rogue to her destination when she is caught hitch-hiking at the beginning of the movie.
Bed of Roses (1996)
good romantic drama
This movie was nice. I won't say it should have been a blockbuster, but I liked it. It's the type of movie you might rent on a rainy day- nice, upbeat, and it leaves you feeling happy and content at the end. It has a decent plot, and is enhanced by realistic acting.
Coyote Ugly (2000)
Older Teen Flick
This movie is cool. In addition to flying beer bottles, there is a plot. It's about Violet Sanford, a small town girl who wants to sell her songs in the big city. She doesn't want to sing them, she has stage fright. But when a robbery leaves her broke, without a job, and without prospects in the big city, she gets a job as sassy, spunky Jersey, a barkeep at the trendy Coyote Ugly. Will she give up her dreams for a little adrenaline-laced bottle-flipping? Or will her new job give her the confidence she needs to succeed?
