Alex & Emma (2003)
"I, uh, Alex & Emma"
21 June 2003
Movies aren't made for critics, they're made for viewers. Alex & Emma is a fun movie, and that's all that romantic comedies can be. Although this movie starts slow (for some reason, there's cute but long and boring illustrations that accompany the opening credits) it starts to pick up the second that Alex meets Emma. Despite what the critics say, the beautiful Kate Hudson and the charming Luke Wilson do have chemistry. It's not overly-romantic in the wild lustful way that we're used to seeing in romantic comedies. But that simply reinforces the plot of the story that the two write together.

Kate Hudson is a starlet.
5 March 2003
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is predictable and breaks no new ground. Yes, it's a romantic comedy (read: chick flick), one that you should go to with your girlfriends. If you're not a chick flick person, you won't enjoy it. Its plot is very thin, and is more like a string of humorous skits.

That said, this movie has one amazing actor playing the male lead (Matthew McConaughey) and Hollywood's future number one starlet (Kate Hudson). Their chemistry is what makes this movie a winner, because the storyline is nothing new. Ms. Hudson throws herself into her character (as always!), bringing Andie to life on the silver screen.

Originality: 2 Stars Enjoyment: 4 Stars

Kate Brasher (2001)
For a Saturday show, not bad...
10 March 2001
Mary Stuart Masterson is an excellent actress. Her two sons are wonderful (Gregory Smith is an up-and-comer who you will see in more major movies in a few years). Sandwiching this show between "That's Life" and "The District" was a good move. This show features many new issues facing a mother/son/son family. The only problem? 'Elvis' and 'Daniel' Brasher have the same hairstyles as kids at my school, which means they brush their hair forward and gel it. Yuck!!

Motocrossed (2001 TV Movie)
10/10
Feminism at its Disney-ist.
20 February 2001
Andrea "Andi" Carson (Alana Austin) is an average teenage girl. She's a cheerleader, she owns pillows shaped like flowers, paints her nails, and, oh, yeah, she can Motocross like nobody's business.

But what strikes me about this movie is not its plot (girl dresses like guy, big dramatic moment as the world finds out she tricked them all, then she gets the guy) but it's hidden message. Not only are girls capable of racing with the boys, but they can wear nail polish, skirts, and earrings, too! It's not evil to be feminine.

On a more shallow note, this cast is full of swoonworthy guys. Dean (Riley Smith), twin brother Andrew (Trevor O'Brien), li'l brother Jason (Scott Terra), evil French Renee Cartier, and the assorted racers hanging out on the track.

Yet, there are some really weird moments. The adults in this movie have the IQ of, say, Jello. Not to mention the big romantic scene--instead of a kiss, we get Andi and Dean's characters racing for Dean to become part of "Carson Racing".

Keep in mind, though, that when you see this movie, there are no surprises. But then again, my entire family saw the movie 4 times in one weekend: me, my sister, my cousin, my mother, and my aunt. It can hold anyone's attention!

Scary Movie (2000)
:::OH MY GAWD::::
1 January 2001
I could not stop laughing durring the film, which I'm watching now! It's hysterical, especially Cindy's Ginger Spice obsession. One thing that could have made it better however, was no retarded jokes (Doofy, which corresponds with Dewey in Scream) and no gay jokes (the masculine gym teacher) and a little less sex. As another person said, you've got to see the Matrix, Scream uno, dos, y tres, I know what you did and the rest of the movies they spoofed. And what about Carmen Electra? Excellent performance, hysterical writing!!!!

One Saturday Morning (1997–1998)
It sucks
15 October 2000
I still watch it, but I miss Charlie and that other dude, who they replaced with Mimi. CHARLIE ROCKED! I remembered her from the babysitters club tv show, but she's much better in this one! It's pretty boring, but I like the Weekenders and Recess. A little trivia: the ex-main character of "So Weird" appeared in a commercial for Disney's one Ssaturday morning.

What's the point?
14 October 2000
The only part of WIT it takes I liked was the set, Maggie and Ryan's balconies. That was cool, plus it had the opportunity to say the one funny part of the film was when Ryan jumps onto her porch and Maggie says the line [not gonna say it if people are reading this who haven't seen the movie]. Much better versions of this storyline were "Never Been Kissed", "She's All That" and the aforementioned "10 Things". I must admit, I was a little confused why they put great actors like Kip Pardue and Christine Lakin in bit parts while Jodi Lyn O'keefe and James Franco were starring.

Billboard Dad (1998 Video)
Oh sheet...
14 October 2000
Possibly the worst movie ever. See "Switching Goals" instead. It didn't make any sense. No 12 year old can get a tattoo without parental consent, especially one that preppy and annoying. The acting was atrocious, the storyline stupid, and I'm glad I saw this movie for free, I never want to go see it again.

Two of a Kind (1998–1999)
Decent
14 October 2000
I don't know why, but when Two of a Kind was on ABC, I never watched it. When I did, I hated it. But know that it's on Fox Family, I catch it as often as possible. There's a lot of lame jokes, some horrible acting, but Mary Kate and Ashley are pretty good in this one. I like seeing them fight, that seems to come naturally to them, I guess because they're sisters. Anyway, if you have a spare half hour, you might as well tune in. Maybe you'll like it.

From part of the teen girl demo...
13 October 2000
When I tuned into the WB premiere of Sabrina, I was totally amazed at what I saw. Getting Sabrina out of high school was fabulous, and a bold step that more teen dramas needs to think about. I only have one thing that would make Sabrina better--bring back Libby! The actress that played her had the PERFECT voice and portrayed Sabrina's enemy perfectly. They should get rid of the Clueless chick and write Libby in.

Funny, weird, and oh-so-cheesy.
8 October 2000
I decided to go to Remember the Titans with some friends. I had nothing better to do, and the movie seemed in-offensive. I ended up enjoying it. What movie that had totally gorgeous 20-somethings playing high school students is all bad? I was partially wrong. After seemingly two hours of male bonding (too much testosterone for my taste), that included singing along to EXCELLENT tunes from the 70's I was ready to throw up. I stopped retching, however, when Sunshine (the totally hot hippie transplant from California) kisses one of the teammates, starting another fight. An excellent preformence from Hayden Something, who played Sheryl Yoast.

Tucker (2000–2001)
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
3 October 2000
I'd have given it only three stars, but one of the characters--"Cousin Leon"--so attracted my attention. I found the McKenna/Tucker scenes pretty boring, but when Cousin Leon tackled Tucker I was rolling. Sure, the hair thing was a little gross--but what about when Leon's mother called him pumpkin and he blew up? That was a scene of great acting.

Daria (1997–2002)
Daria: A 10 out of 10, baby.
10 September 2000
A lot of people who consider themselves popular probably won't like the show. But hey, that's your problem :). I compare Daria with the WB's much yuppier Popular. Both are great shows, but I prefer Daria handsdown. Daria *says* she doesn't care, but anyone who watchs the show knows she does on certain levels (Trent, Tom). We need more teenage roll models who don't give a d*** what other people think--yet they have brains, friends, and snappy comebacks. I hope Daria has a lengthy stay at MTV--Long live the Misery Chick.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch--a pretty good film for what it is.
14 August 2000
I saw "Sabrina goes to Rome" and "Roman Holiday" in the same weekend. I saw a lot of similarities besides where they took place. True, Princess Ann never had a talking cat, but she was escorted around Rome by two photographers who were planing to sell the pictures of her to magazines. The same thing happened to Sabrina. Luckily, they had a change of heart. I'm not comparing Audrey Hepburn with Melissa Joan Hart, but remember Audrey's movie "Sabrina"? Anyway "Sabrina Goes to Rome" is a quality film. It's not a "Roman Holiday" but it's pretty good.

Enjoyable for all ages--for a laugh, too
6 July 2000
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed the film. It was really cheesy at times. (They destroy the villain with hair driers--but where are they plugged in?) It's a unique film though, and I enjoyed the acting of Courtney Draper and Tamara Hope. I also enjoyed Fanuel (however you write it...) liking Megan's charecter because she called him a dweeb. Besides the acting, the "rewinding" and showing what happened on Ariel's and then Megan's point of view was quite interesting. I saw it twice and I'd see it again
