Let's Rock Again! (2004)
Simple, Personal, Heartfelt Tribute to a Musical Legend and Hero
I saw this at the AFI theater in MD during a documentary film festival. being a huge clash fan and of joe strummer's solo efforts with the mescaleros this was a very personal film to me and i enjoyed it enormously. as i think even the most casual of fans would enjoy the same. only thing i didn't like: wished it went on longer. i guess we could all say the same thing about joe's life. he's so personable, speaks his mind, and just a nice guy you could sit there for a three hour film. he was a true rock hero/legend and all around great human being who's philosophies are seriously needed in today's crumbling society. Hopefully this film will get picked up by a distributor for a DVD release or maybe some more footage could be added to make this feature length so it might see a theatrical run.
Psycho (1998)
hmmm...
i didn't really care. i didn't understand why. i was interested in seeing it because i liked the first one. although i have to see this would have been a great movie if Christopher (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show) had done this movie and made it a mockumentary about remaking psycho with the same actors used in this movie. now that would have been great! it's not vince vaughn's fault that he looks a little too imposing to be norman bates. he was fine considering the footsteps he was following, anne heche i don't understand why she did the movie. in the commentary she said she never even saw the original and just wanted to work with gus van sant. i think differnt acctress might have helped a lot considering the part of marion crane. juliane moore was great and viggo mortensen was fine as well. the film was stunning visually that's about the only thing that can be said of gus van sant's direction. or maybe that credit should go to the cinematographer. i don't know. it was interesting only for the fact of comparing to the original. being that it was nothing new it wasn't a terribly intriguing or shocking movie. i'm 21 i saw the original psycho when i was like 15 or so. and i wasn't that shocked because i grew up in a differnt time. i wish i could have saw psycho in 1960 to really appreciate it more. i am interested in van sant's next expiramentation. maybe he'll remake E.T.
Chicago (2002)
Amazing!
okay i have not seen the musical or knew nothing about it, but i was very interested to see this film and it was absolutely amazing. a film i will not soon forget. it was almost two hours long and flew by. before i knew it the movie was over. and damn, rene zellwegger is really sexy. i've always thought so, but seeing her in those skimpy little outfits was worth the $9
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Brilliant Opening..all downhill from there
the opening for this movie was brilliant. it was alot of fun. but then as soon as they started up that opening dance number i knew i was in for a long and boring ride. some jokes are funny but like the 2nd one i thought more of the jokes fell flat. and they're just doing the same stuff over. nothing original here. mike myers needs to do something new. he hasn't starred in a real movie (besides shrek) since he broke out with austin powers. it's been getting tired for awhile now.
