Interesting, but needs major improvement.
15 September 2000
Absolute Power has a very clever and interesting story, about a professional jewel theif who finds murderous secrets at a billionaire's home. But, it really needs major improvement, the film is often too dull for it's own good, and it is far too long and has a boringly unexpected finale. However, there is an upside to this movie, it is very clever, and the acting from Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman shows effort and skill.

Overall, Absolute Power is not a bad movie. It will keep you entertained for a couple of hours, but it is not a memorable or brilliant experience.

Runaway Bride (1999)
Terrible!
13 September 2000
I was expecting Runaway Bride to be as good as Pretty Woman, it has an excellent cast, a good idea and a great director. However, Runaway Bride is no Pretty Woman. It is a boring, silly, annoying and pointless piece of cinema that is very hard to like. It is quite hard to pick out any good bits in this movie, and from the very start, you can tell it is going to be almost unbearable to watch. Runaway Bride is overall an unfunny, uncharming, undelightful and absolute terrible film that you shouldn't waste your time over.

And hey, I can't even give it an extra point for the acting.

Entrapment (1999)
A Bit Disappointing, But Not Totally Bad.
13 September 2000
I wasn't expecting Entrapment to be all that good, but it was certainly better than I expected. Although it is not a great movie, Entrapment never fails to entertain. Most of the performances are good, Catherine Zeta-Jones is awesome in her part of the daring secret agent, while Sean Connery was cast perfectly as the Irish art theif. Ving Rhames did a pretty good job in his supporting role also. The sound and editing are remarkbale in this movie, and also the cinematography is lovely.

Entrapment is highly recommended for action fans and Catherine Zeta-Jones freaks.

Dogma (1999)
Surprisingly Unmissable!
5 September 2000
I thought Dogma didn't look like a totally great movie, so I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. But, it is totally hard to ignore the fact that Dogma is a gem. I love everything about this flick, I especially enjoyed watching the incredible performances which were played by a variety of awesomely well-known actors. Linda Fiorientino was superb, Chris Rock was awesome, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were two of the coolest bad-asses in a long time, Alan Rickman never failed to impress and the extremely talented singer Alanis Morissette was suprisingly excellent in her small but strongly satisfying role. But, this is really Kevin Smith's movie, his script is original, bewildering and weirdly touching. His direction was once again awesome, and his quitely brilliant performance sparkled.

Highly recommend, Dogma is a suprisingly original and unmissable movie!

The Haunting (1999)
One of the worst films of 1999.
2 September 2000
From the very start of The Haunting, I could tell I was going to dislike it. By the end, I was thinking it was one hell of a terrible film, and easily one of the worst of 1999. It is alot like the recent Battlefield: Earth, there is absolutely nothing here you can take seriously. The script is laughable, the special effects were a joke, the acting was awful, and the direction was effortless. Like I said, there is nothing here you can take seriously, nor anything you can like.

If as much effort went into Catherine Zeta-Jone's wardrobe as went into this film, they would of been on to a winner.

A Brilliant, Incredible Masterpiece.
2 September 2000
I hadn't heard much about The Sixth Sense before I saw it, so I wasn't exactly expecting a great movie. But The Sixth Sense was beyond a great movie, it was a flippin' incredible one! Haley Joel Osment put on the best performance by a young actor I have ever seen, while Toni Colette and Bruce Willis were strong leading performers. And I truly love M. Night Shamalyn's script, the idea of a boy seeing ghosts is ingenious, and it is one of my favourite scripts of 1999. M. Night Shamalyn also put heaps of effort into directing this film, he shows much promise for the future.

See this brilliant masterpiece NOW.

Just A Chill-Out, Fun Movie.
2 September 2000
The first time I saw Disturbing Behaviour, I thought, what the hell is this crap? But recently I watched it for a second time and I must admit I had a blast watching it. The idea of the film was very silly but original and engaging and the acting skills were average, Nick Stahl really shined as Gavin in particular and Katie Holmes was also impressive as Rachel. But there is a few faults in Disturbing Behaviour, sometimes the scenes that are supposed to be scary made you laugh, especially the end.

Overall, Disturbing Behaviour is a stupid, fun, chill-out movie I recommend for people who want to do just that.

A Huge Disappointment.
2 September 2000
I am an absolutely huge fan of Kevin Williamson, he always thinks up cool scripts, great ideas and memorable lines. However, this movie came as a huge disappointment. I thought this movie would be double everything else he has done, because he would be writing and directing. But, unfortunately, it was far worse than anything else he has ever done. The story is pretty lame and far-fetched and this film is never scary and hardly ever funny. Mostly it is only the acting skills from Katie Holmes, Barry Watson and newcomer Marisa Coughlan that are totally impressive.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle is a movie I tried really, really hard to like but it is even harder not to dislike it.

Ravenous (1999)
Awesome, Creative and Extremely Watchable.
2 September 2000
I really enjoyed Ravenous. It had lots of thrills, chills and dark jokes that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. The performances were very impressive, Guy Pearce was quietly awesome, Robert Carlyle was brilliant as always and David Arquette was great in his small but well-played role. I also love this screenplay, it is clever, creative and never annoying. Ravenous is an awesome and extremely watchable but horrifying film I highly recommend to all viewers.

I guarantee you won't stop thinking about this movie for hours after you see it. It is one of the best horror films of 1999.

X-Men (2000)
A Superbly Entertaining Film!
2 September 2000
I wasn't very fimiliar with the comic, so I wasn't expecting to like X-Men as much as I did. But I really enjoyed this superbly entertaining film, it is one of the best movies I have seen in quite some time. The acting was very satisfying, New Zealander Anna Paquin in particular gave another sparkling performance. The writing and screenplay were very good, Bryan Singer put lots of effort into this film. But, mostly, it is the technical things that made this movie. The sound was amazingly convincing, the visual effects were stunning and the editing was very noticeable and put to perfection.

Sure to be one of the best films of 2000, I highly recommend X-Men to all movie-goer's.

Babe (1995)
A Fun Likeable Flick.
2 September 2000
Babe is one of those films were you really enjoy it the first time you see it, but after a while it sort of gets annoying. But, nevertheless, you can't stop really dislike it that much because the story is just so original and the characters are so likeable and memorable. Also, don't go thinking Babe is just another one of those stupid kids movie, it will entertain all ages, even teenagers and mature adults will have lots of fun watching this movie.

I don't think this movie deserved a Best Picture nomination in 1996, but it is a recommendable flick all the same.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)
10/10
An Unforgettable Haunting Masterpiece.
1 September 2000
I wasn't really all that excited about seeing Sleepy Hollow, it didn't look that good. But I was stupid to say that it didn't look good, because this film is instantly a modern-day classic. It would also probably be in my top 5 films of all time. It is just so entertaining, engaging, enthralling and exciting that I couldn't resist it. I give all my praise to the people who worked on this film, particulary Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Andrew Kevin Walker and Christina Ricci. In every area this film is absolutely perfect, the visual effects are stunning, the costumes are eye-opening, the sound is chilling and the editing is noticeably full of effort.

Don't miss out on this outstanding, unforgettably haunting masterpiece.

Surprisingly Awesome Fun!
1 September 2000
I didn't think I'd like Plunkett and Macleane that much, but I must say, I was pleasantly suprised with this flick. It had it all adventure, action, thrills, chills and drama. And especially the clever moments of stand-out hilarity which you will be laughing about hours after the flick. Plunkett and Macleane also has some very polished performances, especially from he-who-can-do-no-wrong man Robert Carlyle, Johnny Lee Miller and the stunningly beautiful Liv Tyler.

I guarantee you'll enjoy this movie, it is clever, funny and extremely entertaining.

Flippin' Frightening!
1 September 2000
I really enjoyed Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. To be completely honest, I had not seen any Halloween movies before this one so I thought I wouldn't it. But I really did like it. I liked the way I could easily pick up the storyline in the first 5 minutes, the way that the film scared me to death and the way I can't wait for the next Halloween 8. The performances were all very impressive, particulary the one's from Jamie Lee Curtis, Josh Hartnett, Michelle Williams and LL Cool J.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later is a flippin' frightening feast!

Extremely Hard to Dislike.
1 September 2000
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery was probably the funniest movie of 1997. Its jokes are very well-crafted and laugh-out-loud hilarious and the film's script is original and impressively likeable. Mike Myer's effort in this film was outstanding, he played 2 characters, wrote the script and basically directed the movie. Liz Hurley is also a sparkling gem of this flick, her performance was great.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery is a film that is extremely hard to dislike, and it may sound lame, but in years to come, I reckon it will be a classic.

An Unforgetable Piece of Cinema.
31 August 2000
Breaking The Waves is one of the most underrated films ever. It is a basically brilliant film, with a strong and thought-provoking script and a great director, Lars Von Trier, who dedicated so much to this film. But it is really the cast that sparkles in this movie. Emily Watson puts on one of the best performances I have ever seen, and Stellan Skarsgard also gave a stunning and memorable performance.

Breaking the Waves is an unforgetable piece of cinema, see it now.

Yawn ....
30 August 2000
Bicentennial Man looked like a very good film from the trailers, but unfortunately it fails to impress. The story has, indeed a really original and great idea, but the film is overly-long and mostly extremely boring. By the end of the end of the film, my ass was so sore because I had been sitting down so long.... Robin Williams and the make-up are 2 of the few great things about this movie....

In short, Yawn!

End of Days (1999)
Stupidly Entertaining.
30 August 2000
I did not expect End of Days to be a very good film at all, and it definitely wasn't a good film. It was just one that entertains you for a couple of hours, you know? I'm not really into Arnold myself, but I have to say, this movie gave me chills and I enjoyed watching most of it. But, there is more to dislike about this movie than there is to like, it is a very lame idea, I mean, Arnie takes on the Devil? In your dreams...

Overall, End of Days is a just a stupidely entertaining movie. But that is as far as it goes.

A Bug's Life (1998)
Well, It Sort of Grew On Me..
30 August 2000
The first time I saw A Bugs Life was at the cinema and I came out thinking the film was absolutely terrible. But, I have to say, since then I have seen some pretty impressive reviews so I thought I would give it another go. I have to admit, it sort of grew on me, I really liked the idea and the CGI's and Cinematography where excellent. But, sometimes this film is a little bit slow, typical and quite boring.

A little while ago I would of given A Bugs Life 1 out of 10, so consider this rating quite generous.

The Bachelor (1999)
Pointless, Stupid and Sloppy.
30 August 2000
I was really looking forward to seeing The Bachelor, it looked like a great flick. Unfortunately, it was definitely not a great flick. It didn't even come close to being good. The Bachelor was an awful film, with perhaps 2 good performances, a couple of good parts in the script and a few chuckles. But, believe me, that is basically as far as it goes.

The Bachelor is a pointless remake that is simply stupid and sloppy. A huge disappointment if there ever was one.

I Still Can't Stop Thinking About It.
30 August 2000
I am sick of people saying this is a bad film. Get used to it, this was a breathtaking journey, it deserved all its 11 Oscars and all its success. I am extremely surprised that it isn't in the IMDb Top 250.

I liked everything about this movie, the performances from Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Frances Fisher, Kathy Bates and Billy Zane were all impressive, but this time, the performances aren't the sparkle in the film. It is really the effort that went into the direction, visual effects, sound and sound editing and musical score that made the film such a sparkling, memorable gem.

This is the best film of 1997 no doubt, and after which will soon be 4 years, I still can't stop thinking about this amazing achievement.

Unbelievably Underrated.
30 August 2000
I didn't think Seven Years in Tibet looked very good, what with the displeasing reviews and a largely un-known cast and all. And I don't think it was good at all. It was a great film. I can't see while people didn't like it! The performance from Brad Pitt was excellent, the photography was breathtakingly convincing, while the sets and costumes never failed to impress. I could hardly pick a bad bone out of this film.

I highly recommend this good old-fashioned, highly entertaining flick for all movie-goers.

I Loved It.
30 August 2000
The first time I saw As Good As It Gets I thought it was average. The second time I thought it was good, and better than before. The third time, which is most recent, I though it was excellent. I was so unbelievably blind to think it was average earlier, because this film is so great. Everything about it was likeable, the script, the cast, the music, the impressive direction, the cinematography and even the websites damn it!

As Good As It Gets is a movie I recommend for everyone, it is one of the best films of 1997. I'll be seeing it for a 4th time extremely soon I imagine...

Flubber (1997)
Not Quite As Bad As You Can Imangine.
30 August 2000
Flubber is definitely not as bad as you've been hearing from all these others IMDb members. But it is definitely not a really good movie, I'll tell ya that. It's just a dumb little inoffensive, predictable, amusing and imanginative comedy that most child audiences will enjoy. And of course you can't forget Robin Williams, you seriously can't picture anyone else playing this role. He wasn't great in this film, but you can tell he enjoyed making the flick.

So, Flubber is not quite as bad as you can imagine it to be, but to be honest, its not my type of thing!

Fathers' Day (1997)
I Don't Know What They Were Thinking...
30 August 2000
I can't remember all that much about Fathers' Day, I saw it quite a long time ago, so I'll give this my best shot.

It is easily a terrible movie, and I can remember that much. Even the two great comedians, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal can't save this flick. The script is lame, I seriously don't know what the writers were thinking... and the direction was, wait, did this movie have a director? I'm not too sure, because if it did, the directions were followed blindly.

Its just not funny, guys. And its just NOT good.
