Chuck & Buck (2000)
Lupe Onteveros is wonderful as Beverly
Chuck and Buck is worth seeing. I was impressed by the duality of comedy and drama in this film. Intriguing characters and a carefully crafted sound track make "Chuck and Buck" a memorable film. It asks questions of the viewer yet provides enough character and plot to tell the story. Lupe Onteveros is wonderful as Beverly.
Gimme Shelter (1970)
A window on to the sixties
The re-release of Gimme Shelter is worth seeing. The negative space of the film is particularly enticing. The images surrounding the main subjects (the Stones, the lawyer, etc.) are nothing less than a time machine. It is hard to watch the disillusionment in the faces of so many young people. Many times during the film I totally lost awareness of the camera and felt as though I was looking directly into the eyes of the audience at Altamont.
All This and World War II (1976)
So I'm not the only one...
I would love to see this movie again. I saw it at the CINERAMA Dome in Hollywood, CA, 1976. The vinyl LP was a double album and had lots of cool stills and lyrics. I still remember the footage of the youngsters riding out to the english countryside in trains with gas masks on. What will it take to get this film printed again?
