An insult to the original
9 December 2002
Warning: Spoilers
The first one was a horror masterpiece (the uncut version anyway), but this film just hadn't a single clue. When it comes to horror/slasher movies I think we can all agree that the sort with mystery killers are the way forward. Now, although this film tries to be a mystery thriller it definately isn't, if you don't suss out who the killer is in under 15 minutes you need your head sorting out, little clue, they're all exactly the same height apart from the killer who's taller...and the teacher who's...wait...the same height as the killer, yikes!

The death scenes are very badly thought out, you see the first one put imaginative twists on urban legends to make highly entertaining death sequences, the murders in this happen exactly as you expect they will 10 minutes before they happen. The murder based on the screamfest legend being the most obvious (not to mention sickening) example of the lot, not to mention the implausibility of all the crap that happens afterwards, the security guard gives CCTV footage (possible murder evidence) a student she met just a day ago, why did she say she got fired again?

And now for the...cough-cough...'acting', there's a girl in the movie who's supposed to be a bad actress, but seeing as the actress who plays her is a waste of space anyway, her portrayal looks like a bad attempt at a puppet show (that's not sarcasm, see for yourself). That's not all, the others aren't much better, the latino girl from training day (yeah, we know she looks good, but there are are good looking people with acting ability out there too), there's the geeky asian bloke from true lies and also the fat black guy from some teen comedy in too, I think its called hang time...nothing to do with his stomach I trust. Then there are the few actors who you might actually recognise, the killer...sorry...'teacher' is played by what's-his-name? Y'know... Supergirl's boyfriend...geek out of Die hard...who cares what he's called he's in it and let me tell you life has scer-oood with that guy, I'm no narco-cop, but look at him, the marlboro man of the drug trade. There's the fat woman from the first film who thinks she's Pam Grier, who's learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the events of the first film. Finally Rebecca Gayheart is in it thank god.....for only 30 seconds, yet somehow upstaging the rest of the film, you'll see what I mean.

To tell you the truth I only saw this film cause I bought urban legends on one of those back 2 back videos and this was on the end of it, these days I just try to forget its there.

Urban Legend (1998)
Genius!
4 October 2002
I first saw this movie when it premiered on Channel 4 earlier this year, but in yet another spell of my world renound bad luck, I was unable to video it because I was taping 24 on BBC 2 at the same time. Since that day I made it my mission in life to find a copy of my very own, I searched for months upon months to find one, but didn't, until one day I found a copy when on holiday in Whitby on one on those double film videos they're always putting leathal weapon films on (the other movie on the cassette was Urban legends: The final cut, which I hate.)

Anyway, needless to say I love the film, its so much better than Scream (at least the murder scenes are well thought out) and the acting is great, especially by Rebecca Gayheart and Michael Rosenbaum.

The only thing I was annoyed about was the fact that the gore and detail of the murders (its a slasher film so this is important) was actually LESS detailed on VHS than on Channel 4. Most specificly the bit with the funnel and drain cleaner is supposed to be much longer, the dean's head was bashed through the spikes rather than slowly driven into them, the kidney removal bit was shortened and all the shots of dead bodies where only a second or two long. It seems the slashing happened more to the content and less to the cast. Despite this the movie was still good and well worth watching.

Face the Edge (1990)

I'm not saying I didn't like the film....but I'm writing it.
22 May 2002
For the first 10 or 15 minutes the introduction scenes make the film seem like its going to be a really funny comic drama, much like similar ski-trip films. Unfortunatly they seem then to abandon the comedy part and turn the whole film into a dull 2 hour version of Dawson's Creek or something. Then in between the 3 main characters' depressing conversations, most of which only skiing enthusiasts will understand anyway, we are confused by the presence of the ever beautiful Ashley Laurence in the film. Sadly not even her immence acting talent is enough to salvage this film's empty plotline, which is made worse by that boring music and the rubbish acting from that kid out of Friday the 13th part II (and not much since).

Before long you find yourself ignoring the actual story and waiting for the shots of the cast (on the off chance that's even them) skiing in slow motion to the same repeating tune that has been boring you to death through the entire movie. This isn't in any way because skiing is fun to watch you understand, its just that even though its usually in slow motion, each stunt (unlike the plot) actually goes somewhere.

So to summerise: The film contains no real plot at all, excessive ski jargon, lots of bad acting, an almost fully unknown cast, painfully boring music, far too much skiing and also I don't think the sound quality is really much good either.

Still, we all love Ashley Laurence.

Anyone order the cheese?

This film was on channel 5 the week after they'd finished showing all of the Operation Delta force films (belive me they're just as bad). At first I thought it must be some sort of bad spin off or spoof of the series, upon further inspection I realised it was actually a 'serious' film done out just as badly and shot in the exact same way. The effects were somehow even worse than Operation Delta force's were and to be honest I've seen better actors in a puppet show.

It has always been an annoying habit of mine to point out mistakes in the films I watch (and trust me I'll always find a few) but when watching this film I always quit after about 20 minutes because they come so thick and fast that I can't mention them quick enough.

Appropriately I have this film taped on the end of Gremlins II (I'm not kidding) and I know which I find the most convincing.

Ashley laurence vs Bruce Payne it's like a dream come true.
29 January 2002
Here's how it goes, 300 years ago an all powerful controller of satanic forces (Bruce Payne) tried to bring about the end of civilisation... of course it didn't work, but now the time has come for another attempt. Searching for clues to her family history the young decendant of the Warlock's arch enemy visits her newly inherited house where the Warlock lies in wait. To raise from hell the poison bride who will plunge the world into unimaginable evil, the Warlock must sacrifice the descendant of a witch born on a blue moon to the devil. Rather luckily for him, the girl is such a decendant born on a blue moon, not so luckily for him she is played by Ashley 'The demon basher' Laurence; the one person the armies of darkness could never hope to defeat. To make things a bit more interesting he can't simply kidnap her and do the ritual like other Warlocks, instead he must be given something by each of her closest friends who must then give her up to him. The acting is perfect (as Bruce Payne & Ashley Laurence always are) and although the scenery is designed to look a bit daft the special effects and cool music more than make up for it. Horror at it's best.

They don't get much better than this.

In the mean streets of Hong Kong violent and corrupt people walk freely...and that's just the police!

That's right, forget Taggert and The Bill this is what ITV's police dramas are all about. Ruthless, drug dealing, gang land crooks leave Hong Kong in fear with violent acts of criminal savagery, the only people brave and smart enough to challenge these thugs are the devoted officers of the Yellowthread Police.

Planting evidence and threatening people; the excessive Detectives open a whole new door to a much darker side to law enforcement, make no mistake its evil vs evil.

Top notch acting all the way with brilliant actors including international martial arts star Tzi Ma and the scary faced king of British actors Bruce Payne.

Having never missed an episode you can take it from me, you wouldn't want to miss a second of it.

Don't waste your time.
9 October 2000
Don't get me wrong on this one Jeff Fahey isn't a bad Actor in fact the cast is mainly made up of good actors who presumably were all having a bad day. What really makes this film as bad as it is is the really cheap special effects. The planes and tanks on maneuvers were actually news footage taken from the Gulf War! Also before every single explosion in the whole film a mine-cart can be seen for a split second. This is because the Film Company spent that much money on actors that it had only enough money for one explosion so with that money they shot the all important exploding mine-cart scene and showed it over and over again. To add to this humiliating display if you watch carefully you never see a handgun fired. This is because the hand guns are really just hand gun shaped hunks of metal carefully shaped to look like hand guns and instead of showing them being fired the camera angle simply shows the person falling over when you hear the bang!

It's official, I love Ashley Laurence.
9 October 2000
Once again Ashley "THE DEMON KILLER" Laurence has managed to change a low-budget TV movie into a world famous money-making success. As with her earlier successes (Triplecross, Hellraiser 1/2, Americanski blues etc) the film is filled with all the bad language, sex and violence that helped me through childhood, but this time, my fellow Ashley-girl fans, she is taking her fair share of the action.

Brilliant film (10/10)
5 October 2000
TRIPLECROSS: MY FAVORITE FILM It never ceases to amaze me how many films feature the unmistakable Patrick Bergin slapping the living hell out of an actress with more acting talent than he, this time it is the turn of my favorite actress in the whole wide world........... Ashley "IT'S JUST A PUZZLE BOX" Laurence, it is clearly her who brings out the differences between the characters by acting scared in that way that only she can possibly accomplish. Another fine actor appearing only in the end half hour is the almost too successful James Hong the dry but funny Oriental- American who has made a staggering 200 film/TV appearances including: BLADE RUNNER, BLOODSPORT 2/3,THE GOLDEN CHILD,TANGO AND CASH and Wait Disney's MULAN. I cannot praise this film enough and would recommend it to anyone.
