Big Al (1993 TV Movie)

Inspired or Engineered
20 November 2011
I'm not sure if the magic of this short was engineered or found along the way but, in either case, "Big Al" was a brilliant bit of work.

As a writer, Big Al became my template for momentum, scene tension, and character stress. Also, character color was displayed in such great color in so little amount of time. It's so infrequent that a piece comes together so vibrantly on every level; in the writing, direction, casting and lighting; even the location scout and sound engineers became important roles.

Big Al should be studied in film school.

I would encourage anyone that has seen this piece to chime in and stir up enough noise to get get its owners to dig it out of the back closet and give it to us.

This is the best short I've ever seen - period. Jerry, screw the lawyers. Create your own YouTube channel and upload Big Al!

Prepare to be Depressed
28 December 2003
Frank Whaley gave it his directorial all in this one as in "Joe the King". He has a unique voice among the other modern day quills of his medium.

This one though, will leave you with a personal malaise. Desolation and reality have now been given gravity with this picture. It's equally depressing that his instincts have drug him in this direction.

View at your own risk.
