Killers (1996)
Good Story, Bad Movie
I know a guy who came to me and told me that he had a movie he claimed to be very good. If I liked Natural Born Killers and From Dusk Till Dawn, I will love this movie. He couldn't have been more wrong. In two words, it sucked. But to use more words than that, I will say that the movie had a very funny story, it was a very nice little story concerning a couple guys who just broke out of jail and take cover in a nice suburban household. It seems dark and gloomy at first, but 50 minutes later we are revealed to a nice array of insanity. The movie actually fools you into liking it by the end. The point is, the dialogue takes more centerstage than it should and half the time, you dont even know whats going on. Nice story, bad movie. No wonder I have never heard of it before.
Terror Firmer (1999)
Did I actually watch the whole thing!?
Wow. I have been dragged into watching Troma movies before, but never one as insane and disgusting as this one. I don't know what to classify it as, Gore, Horror, Comedy... what? Anyways, the movie is actually good, and it follows a story! Wow! Basically, during the filming of a new Toxie movie, the cast and crew of the film are beginning to get.. murdered! Who is the mysterious vixen that decided that it was a good idea to suck a 400 pound man into an escalator!? Funny huh? You won't believe the twist ending (one for the books) and the zany jokes thruout. I personally loved the on set sex scene... hehehe. Check it out, and you will never want to watch Toxie, Kabukiman or Duke Nukem ever again!
Decampitated (1998)
Can I watch this again please?
I would consider myself a pretty big horror movie buff. I love black comedy horror, gore films, teen slashers and whatever else you wish to throw at me. One day, my Troma loving brother-in-law got this new film in the mail - Decampitated. It looked like it may be scary, so I agreed to watch it with him. I was wrong. It was not scary, but at the same time, I found myself walking away from the film with a big smile on my face. I liked it, I actually liked it! Campy as hell, but the film was good. The clever uses of Duck Tape, the weed wacker and prancing killer, was a clever film that almost made you turn the machine off - it was so silly. A couple days later, I found myself asking my Bro if I can watch it again. I think I have seen it 10 times now (which is pretty good, let me tell you) and I will place it in the oh so hard to get into club of "Good Troma Movies" (Standing along the sides of Tromeo and Juliet and Terror Firmer) Good job guys!
Ice Cream Man (1995)
B-Movies At It's Best!
Going thru a friends B-Movie closet, I happened upon The Ice Cream Man. I took a pile of movies home that night to watch... Waxwork, Society, Wizard of Gore... but among all of them, the only one that stood out was this trash-classic B-Movie. Clint Howard proved to be a psycho. The death scenes in this film are quite interesting and I actually had to look the other way during some more grotesque moments. I was reciting lines like "Not every day is a happy, happy, happy day." for months. The movie is well worth an hour and a half of your life and just may take more than that when you want to watch it again and again. A definate party favor on Halloween night!
