Messiah (2020)
Not what I expected and hard to comprehend Netflix didn't continue
Messiah is not what I was expecting at all. It cleverly brings up numerous modern day issues around society beyond religion. Messiah has an incredible storyline and script to match. The characters are not only believable and well acted but also recognisable'. You can relate to the how and why....so complex but relatable....you recognise the messenger. A messenger trying to awaken society to what they are having difficulty seeing. When you hurt others, you hurt yourself. We are all messengers, capable of leading not only ourselves to recognise ourself but also enable others to.see and know themselves.
Anyone can heal another, It is not limited by religion, not limited by borders or location...it is about seeing everyone else as another you.
What causes upset is Netflix ditched subsequent series of this show. Season two was canceled, and you can partially understand why. It cuts close to the bone...especially now in 2024 when you are seeing neighbouring nations actively allowing children to starve and go without water. Series one is beyond any religion and totally worth watching. It ends with sense, a plausible pause but it should have gone to a second series. Of course a second series could also have lessened the impact of the first.
A must watch, whether you recognise all the undertones of mistrust, questionable need to market religion and power of nationality. Even socio-economic similarity.... Messiah asks you to actually see what benefits are really gained. How can society change...gain a higher perspective...to ascend.
Spaceman (2024)
Fantastic to see movies that clarify spiritual aspects
Spaceman communicates themes of 'awareness' in way not necessarily obvious to those who may just be looking for entertainment. Those viewers with a sense of spirituality ...(universal energy code knowledge)...will see much more. Anosh (...translates as 'Beautiful morning, The name of a star, Eternal, Everlasting, Immortal, Elixir') being represented as a spider like creature asks us to shift our perspective (with multiple eyes) and acknowledge all is connected. The web that is weaved connects all that is. Eight legs also touches on infinity...multiple paths that have no beginning or ending (ending is beginning/ beginning is ending).
That Anosh first appears as an aspect physically within Jakub...that our physical sense of self is our universe. All knowledge is held within, and when that knowledge is remembered clearly it is then wisdom. That essence of understanding flows, it cannot be contained..a flickering spark of source...a fragment continually seeking experience. To learn...and remember wisdom that was never misplaced. To not set a sense of control but instead flow with compassion, forgiveness, gratitude....joy. All being as it should.
Additional to that we see magenta colour (referenced as purple but it is magenta tones of the spectrum). Magenta represents universal love at its highest level, the colour of the free spirit, Magenta represents universal love at its highest level, the colour of the free spirit. It is contains the passion, power and energy of red, restrained by the introspection and quiet energy of violet. It promotes compassion, kindness and cooperation. The color magenta is a color of cheerfulness, happiness, contentment and appreciation. Again - without spiritual awareness this simple colour choice by the production could easily be overlooked.
Sandler, Mulligan and Rossellini play their parts to perfection but if you are just seeking entertainment value much of what is being communicated could easily be missed. Aloneness is never loneliness....we are never alone. Energetic connection never ceases...you just need the vision to acknowledge it.
To me this movie is very much in the same theme as 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' and I think the production delay was simply to create a separation so as to fully acknowledge the similarities, but also separation of what is the infinite truth of all that is. The universe. To release near that movie would have been a mistake, it would have been compared for all the wrong reasons.
Spaceman will not share clarification with everyone but don't overlook what you cannot see. Look deeper into all the clever incorporated into this movie. Skinny Human, take an opportunity to contemplate emptiness and all that contains. Man space, space man.
Recommend without question. Watch with full immersion...once you acknowledge what is being communicated the message will settle.
Ghost Adventures (2008)
Hilariously offensive - they are less about 'help' and more about aggravating
Can't believe people call Zak for help...he will come in with his team and aggravate the heck out of the location and leave.
The show does use various techniques/ technologies but lacks a sense of respect. And when respect is attempted it appears as juvenile pranks.
It is like being staunch somehow makes you more attractive to the paranormal...think the ghosts are putting the joke on Zak and his crew. They do however know the benefit of having minimal people onsite when investigating...next would be to investigate without seeding their expectations on how, when and who prior to arriving.
You turn up at the location - introduce yourself - gain a level of trust but ask nothing. Communicate only what you discover...
Ghost Hunters (2004)
Too many people - too much leading information - inability implement valid technology
Although the show is respectful to the locations and people on the show it falls apart as credible due to too much lead information (seeded thoughts and details). There are also far too many cast members contaminating the location.
They also don't implement valid and useful technology for most investigations. No wonder activity is sparse as the cringeworthy viewing must shame any activity into hiding.
Show seriously needs simplified - less investigators, more static technology and remote viewing of engagement. The only thing going is they are respectful to the environments they engage in. Not really worth watching unless you extremely limited in viewing options.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Repetitive sequences around 'trippy triggers' insult viewer intelligence
There is a lot to draw you in with this movie. The concept is there but the execution is poor. Suggesting it is poor script doesn't quite cover the issue...visually there is a feast...script empty...fingers point at poor direction possibly. Clearly great and original idea behind it (not the concept but conveying) - it is not a gender specific issue though so I would have loved to see more dimensional characters. Reading other reviews the suggestion of feminism is implied and to me that does not sum it up...gender is dissatisfied no matter what the choice made....decisions were not gender aligned but more from assumptions and lack of communication.
When the credits rolled I simply felt that those hours I spent watching would have been better spent doing something else as it discredits. Not only does it misrepresent mental health, it suggested gender bias in aspects of life satisfaction and success ideology.
If anything watching Styles character dance like a puppet reflected Pugh's character dejected feeling at returning from a long day at work simply to sleep.
Really would have liked to see more character development and a director who knew how to direct.
Our Ladies (2019)
Came across when flicking through channels - totally worth viewing
Thoroughly enjoyed this film - I had not heard of it but when flicking through channels it caught my eye. The acting is fantastic - characters full of depth. The storyline and setting brings so much...tones of musical at times, elements of humour and seriousness. All characters are relatable - you will find many who you will be able to place from your own life experience. I am not religious - certainly have limited knowledge of catholic schools but there are certain themes taken to extreme in some ways but that is how to jam so much into a film. Both storyline and characters bring life to this... balanced and enriched. Makes me want to read the book....totally recommended. Life is for living...
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Must see movie - but there will be many who miss the detail
Stunning movie but many details will be overlooked...carefully detailed underlying messages. Googling eyes and character names add to the obvious but also layered themes. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, scripting, characters and acting. This is visually entertaining...comedic but also theological - pulling together quantum theory and spirituality. Everything everywhere at once is a display of balance in action. Duality in depth....wrapped in a bit of silly to make it easily digestible. Another clever aspect was the use of subtitles and language...for most viewers that draws your attention. You cannot be distracted- you need to pay attention. Thoroughly recommended viewing - best movie to come out in decades - iI consider it to be must view...
The Time Traveler's Wife (2022)
Came across first episode and watched whole series - loved it
Cannot believe there is no plans for a second series. The first six episodes were well written with depth and believability. The characters and complexity was approached with skill and intelligence...you connected to what was going on with ease. There was not excessive attention to any single trait...the 'being human' aspect was beautifully communicated and acted.
Surely the critics who caused this treasured series to be cancelled were not actually watching or were expecting an action packed science fiction storyline rather than the respectful romantic / science fictional aspect that made the whole situation believable and immersive. I started watching the first episode alone but was soon joined by three others who also watched intently to the last episode. The humour and naturalness of the central characters - the acting and settings. Definitely more viewer friendly than I was expecting. Even if it wasn't a box set channel and a stormy day I would have made sure to watch each episode. Please PLEASE continue with the rest of the planned episodes...just stunned this gets ditched while other lame series go forever.
Reminiscence (2021)
Narrated like a 1930s detective movie & poor casting
I had a hard time getting to like this movie - each time it got interesting it was interrupted by Hugh Jackson's voice overs. Like some old movie narration to explain character emotional connection - just left a gagging sensation (insult to the intelligence of the viewing audience). Potential was here and I was reminded of The Final Cut (Robin Williams) and the 'rememory' storyline from that. Poor casting decisions with characters also left a bad taste...The Greatest Showman and lip syncing by Ferguson....maybe she was singing in this movie but the previous acting pairing just brought that up due to the poor character development here. Newton held her ground and I found her character strongest but the narrative by Jackson, prior rôle similarities.....just made the concept and plot stumble repeatedly. Maybe the casting of Ferguson with her previous singing roll with Jackson just made the movie prone to failure. And if you were not familiar with Williams movie (The Final Cut) maybe the plot would have held your attention more but not a worthwhile effort to view in my opinion.
Kimi (2022)
Original material in my opinion - something different
As a movie that uses the pandemic to assist in conveying a theme around technology and the interaction of society, this movie is actually worth the effort to watch all the way to the end. Yes it is painfully slow and twisted in several aspects but the acting abilities of the main character ( Kravitz) makes it plausible. A situation that makes sense - it is believable and you need to pay attention. Why is that neighbour paying attention? Why are people acting in isolation...or are they? I cannot explain why we could not turn the screen off - it was bedtime but yet we stayed up to see how this turned out in the end. Expect the last 1/3 of the movie to make it worthwhile - none of us are alone but that doesn't make you any more or any less capable of being a valuable energy of influence. Never heard of this movie prior to viewing but can certainly recommend. Even my husband commented it was intelligent in it's execution - the tiny details were considered and addressed.
Dog (2022)
Actually quite thought provoking - watchable film
We had nothing to watch on TV and this ended up as the pick of nothing 'worth watching'. For most of the movie I sort of struggled with the 'why would a military trained dog be so disobedient'. Being familiar with working dogs I know the training that goes with them and the ability for anyone to give instruction. We pushed on though and as the movie progressed the message became quite clear and emotional. Although not a movie we directly searched out to view it is worth watching...some scenes are cringe worthy but the overall message is powerful. Bit like our viewing intention...don't write it off prior to seeing it through to the end. Not for young kids - but worthwhile viewing for seeing and knowing more about why the act of life needs better understanding.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Visually stunning but disappointing storyline
Visually Avatar 2 certainly provides but sadly the storyline is well below expectations. Same crap different day....same confused confrontations without any real substance. There was opportunity to pull out something stunning but instead we had the same rehash the marketing people believe will pull in the $$. We had plenty of spiritual inspiration mixed with a bit of Whale Rider and The Titanic. In fact some scenes I almost thought I was watching The Titanic. Just felt this was a script that would have worked 20yrs ago but spiritual awareness has shifted...the inspiration mixed with what marketing thinks will sell has ended up as something that just lacks / contradicts / leaks like a sieve. Hopefully Avatar 3 keeps pace with where the globe is at with intelligence...we are well beyond being spoon fed outdated ideals...masculinity has shifted beyond the 'kill zone' - gender isn't defined by physicality. Spiritual divinity is balancing divine feminine with divine masculine...balancing nurture with action / feeling with practicality. Avatar 2 needed to incorporate an evolving global understanding...keep pace with the audience which involves more creative and risk confidence in the script. Sadly the script doesn't keep pace with the visual capabilities. Let's hope Avatar 3 doesn't get lost in delays with production and keeps pace.... I suspect it might need a storyline rewrite otherwise it might be like watching a 50yr old sitcom.
Moonfall (2022)
Moonfail - 1 Star is an overstatement. Luna is feminine energy..
Yet again we have a movie fundamentally conflicted at the core. First is the standard USA attempts to save us all by the assumption everything is out to kill us. How to best stop being killed - clearly you need to kill and destroy. (Total lack of both intelligence and logic...even a low level life form sees the flaw in that). Major flaw is the suggestion of some spiritual connectivity....the Moon represents divine feminine. It is nurturing, intuitive, has phases and yet this movie assigns the polar opposite. Here the Moon is yes / no, practical, combative...anything but divine feminine. Utter cringeworthy. Simply another high budget makes no sense, why do actors submit themselves to such torture. Standard script writers gather up a theme which holds merit and utterly shredded into non-coherent ramblings. Simply avoid unless you wish to laugh until you vomit.
The Truth Behind: The Crystal Skulls (2011)
Poorly executed - if anything confirmed the mysterious
I was beyond disappointed with this poorly executed 'truth behind'. It is well known and documented that crystal both stores and transmits energy. Quartz Crystal has numerous recognised scientific benefits, electronic uses and known piezoelectric traits. It is proven to transform energy and documented as having ability to absorb energy. It is a fact many crystals that are cut and worked absorb the energy of those who work on it. Many crystals and gems in jewellery are said to be cursed ( such as Hope Diamond, The Delhi Purple Sapphire, etc) which is metaphysical / paranormal. Even if there is mystery on where this skull came from it clearly exists...the level of skill in it's construction has not yet been reproduced and that was confirmed in this programme. I was also surprised at the lack of study into where globally this quartz was sourced...instead a specialist put a face to a replica skull which holds no significance when you could use petrographic microscope and other data sources to globally position the source of the quartz of the actual crystal skull in question. You are also doing nothing when associating a hologram projector as a confirmation of metaphysical or paranormal experience. If people are experiencing messages and visions it could be they are tuning to the energetic vibration of the crystal...again this was not done in this documentary. There was only vague sensors with no controls or base line comparison. How about independent interviews of people who sense energetic events from the actual crystal skull....'control skulls' along with the actual crystal skull. The only truth confirmed here was a lack of credibility in the 'findings'. If it was purchased at auction isn't significant when you do little to actually prove how it came to be in the first place....honestly not worth watching. Metaphysical energy sources cannot be discredited by creating a replica.
The Big Ugly (2020)
It is what it is - totally watchable
This movie simply is - it makes sense. Scripting and acting make it...strong stereotypes - simple storyline. Easy viewing that goes exactly where your gut wants taken. It certainly gets ugly and it is extreme but at the same time there is expectation and contentment. Not a film the grips you to the edge of your seat but certainly fills the void without force...it naturally flows. Even if the river is manipulated by man it still takes the boat on the currents.
Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
Cringe worthy script and delivery - we left...
I would have liked to report I watched the whole movie but we left less than one hour in. There is thing about creating characters where no effort is required...cool is just flowing - no effort is required. Strong character just is...it isn't forced. Gender has nothing to do with how a character is and trying to push the whole 'I am man/ I am woman' just continues to compound the whole issue of gender. To see past gender is to not get distracted by it and this is how this movie left me cringing and tasting vomit in my mouth. The effort made to push gender and deliberate scripting of 'how to be cool'....dare I say but as a targeted viewer it was embarrassing. Our group could not submit to such driveling...marketing of equality in the movie industry has got everything in reverse. Trying to force gender dynamics just shows the continuation of this issue...I realise the script called for this dynamic - poor scripts never make great viewing. Just walk away if presented with viewing this...painful - cringe. Make characters beyond 'look or pity me because I am (insert gender)' - invoke natural interaction...let a character be built not uncomfortably forced.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Bring a bucket and painkillers - sickeningly bad
So glad I didn't actually pay to see this. Honestly not sure if there is potential to save the storyline as the script was missing. Pretty sure the writers took a sick day....too traumatised by a certain US president ( you can sense the inspiration from that individual)....and the Cats movie. $200million spent on this utter drivel. If this rated well with your test audiences during production clearly they were drugged. Embarrassment to all involved...seriously. Money clearly can not bring much....so messed up production and marketing. Yawn and yawn.
The Silencing (2020)
Great thriller - well acted and enthralling storyline
Totally enjoyed this movie - well acted - great storyline. Done in a way that is totally pulls you into the drama. Recommended...enjoyed that it is similar to several other thrillers but stands alone as unpredictable...original. Not a storyline I have seen done before and it is plausible...something that made sense.
Blithe Spirit (2020)
Watchable...but not memorable. Don't over analyse...just enjoy the view...
The best thing about this movie is the costumes and houses. Great rainy day viewing...essentially if you want some background viewing while knitting or crocheting. The storyline is something that would be entertaining in the 1940s...now it is just so full of holes (ghosts that drive cars...??...does it fall apart on the ghost part or the seance plot ?) Simply put - there are worse things to watch. This is empty entertainment that is well acted out in stunning wardrobe and settings. Don't expect to be gripped to your chair but it is watchable.
James & Isey (2021)
Expected this to be less James...
Although this was an enjoyable movie and full respect to Isey but I left feeling this was James claim to a career he left. He left to care for Isey...many many years ago. This was James stepping back into being in front of the camera and using Isey as a stepping point. Left feeling respect for the strength of Isey but also feeling James played her into his feature. Just odd dynamic but beautifully presented from a film aspect...the story was - although documentary sort of a bias that twisted.
Bellbird (2019)
So realistic it is like you are on the farm and within the community
Stunning film that just drips with real. Nothing showy - nothing over done - just community and family life that pulls you in as an observer. Just totally wraps you in a blanket of living. So beautifully scripted, acted and directed. It moves you in such a profound way but at the same time it is that favourite pie you eat for lunch. Comforting but different, expected but unexpected....
Radioactive (2019)
Such potential for awesome...maybe it was all left on the edit floor
So much potential to be an awesome movie...the story has such depth and the characters full of story material but so poorly executed. One major advantage of watching this movie is it will make you look online yourself for more of what the story touched on. Add the lack of accent execution and poor direction of camera shots and you leave wishing someone else had got filming rights...better script...better use of material. So much potential trampled into much less than it should have been.
What Women Want (2000)
A mere 20yrs ago this was 'cutting edge'
Although themes in this movie are amusing it seriously shows it's age. Such dated and backward representation of masculine and feminine 'imagery'. Detached in that it thinks hearing anyone's thoughts would be so refined and limited let alone the links of only men smoke and women solely focus on appearance. Almost like time travelling back to detached sense of what was 'real'. Empty entertainment - interesting to see the shift in what was acceptable and popular at the turn of the century.
Irresistible (2020)
If you live outside of the US it shows what you are already aware of
As I reside outside of the insanity that is within this US this movie was beyond torture - but you need to watch until the END. It showed what everyone beyond the US border already knew. That the political US is marketing machine is so detached....fake...$$$ focused rubbish. Truth is confused with what grabs attention and can be sold. Jon Stewart will leave you questioning whether it is just political or society that is ruled by the greenback. When you have campaigns winning advertising awards your nation is corrupt...the US is epic at displaying 'how freedom works'.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Director distracted by $$ in his eyes...
The director will try to suggest he has family links to this content - that it is a new direction that cannot be offensive because it is part of his genetic makeup. Truth is he thought this would draw attention and could be marketed as 'cutting edge' - 'black comedy' - pushing the limits of acceptance and humour. The 'big business' marketing team thought the same...the award shows received their bribes. The audience was supposed to be excited for this 'new name full of potential director'. Instead we saw another talented director sell out his potential to supposedly 'be famed'. Not a memorable effort - we walked out during the movie. Nothing to do with the story line topic but everything to do with marketing bucket level dribble.
