I Came By (2022)

Slow start and anti-climatic ending but somewhere in the middle, this was excellent
31 August 2022
I started watching this in the background. The two graffiti kids are not much to look at and you don't have a reason to care about them... until you do. This thriller was unexpected and while the ending could have been better, it was just right. I hear what other reviewers are saying about cliche themes, but I didn't feel like this tile was pandering to that. Bonneville's performance as the ex-judge living a double life was spot on. The police were once again disappointing but not for lack of trying, the bad guy does bad things well, the entire supporting cast did their job to perfection! Give it a shot.

Why are we running????
2 April 2022
At some point you will be tempted to watch this adaptation, you will see some positive reviews, you might even see a traiiler. Do yourself a favour, walk away.

Or just was the 1995 version and pretend you didn't see the circus (why? Just... why!?).

This is just not great to watch. The characters don't seem to go well together, the story is chopped up and pieced back together like a bad jigsaw puzzle, not only do the wrong character say pivotal lines, but also conversations happen in the wrong time and place along the storyline.

But all that I could have lived with, what is absolutely unacceptable is the endless running that happens in the climax scene... why? Just so much running. This just didn't happen in the source material. And while we are at it, why does Anne keep staring at the camera? What am I meant to feel from all this eye contact except creeped out?

Sigh.

Dissappointing
26 September 2020
Murders not fully explored. Motive not believe. Dialogue forced. The Detective's wife breaking into that home looking for information.. not believable. The set up for the final victim, then the victim they choose also doesn't make sense. Don't understand why JDM would settle for this script.

Next.

Great movie, poor editing

Warning: Spoilers
Love the story. Really got into the Eli, Tom chemistry. Could have done with a few more minutes at the end. I don't know if I can believe that Tom has completely turned a new leaf. Do the maths :). BUT. I still loved it.

What I did not care for, and the only reason for 7 and not 9 stars is the number of oversights. The continuity issues between shots. After the first 'encounter' when Eli is startled awake he is wearing shorts and is uncovered, when the shot switches he is fully under the covers, and back and forth. Then When Eli is chatting with his sister and she is wearing the black top and a black sweater, between shots the sweater is over her chest and then not. Then there is the beautiful end scene spoiled by some random plaid cloth that sneaks in stage left. sigh. BUT great story.

Loved Dan Bucatinsky in Scandal and glad to see his earlier work and just how could he was even then. Bravo.
