A cheeseburger thats tastes a bit bland
9 March 2024
Take a healthy dose of cheese and cliché. Add some extra cheese. Not much sauce. A little spice and a bland meat bun and lettuce see if it will work out. It doesnt.

"Where not so different you and I" Cheese and cliché and doesnt land for me.

The characters are not that likable. Even when they smile there is no heart. Its like AI made this based on sampling of many spy and comedy films.

Should I try to watch this all the way through.

As spock would say after a short pause.. "I think not".

Its trying to be a spoof of an over the top bond film but its a bit stiff and serious.

I just think its missing some heart to make this really work. Its all glamour and even the action is so ridiculous but not in a funny way.

Its not an easy gig to pull off. A spy spoof comedy needs likeable characters rather than just boobs and dimple chins.

A mixed bag of solid entertainment
20 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
There could and are all kinds of critical remarks about this season from many.. But for me overall I'm happy with the whole journey and final product.

The ingredients Casting was top notch.

Entertaining suitably wacky plot Things didn't often work out as most viewers would prefer.. And that's a good thing.

People make dumb decisions.

Stuff doesn't work out ideally and sometimes it does. That's life. Some parts seem overly harsh and cruel. Well that's also life.

This was a fun season.. There were parts that looked very contrived to suit the plot but at the same time it seemed deliberate for fun and to be unpredictable.

There were moments where Munch's character was just so over the top dramatic and poetic that it was hilariously cheesy fun.

It would have been a lot of fun to make.

Also the fantasy aspect of munchs life was a fun and off the wall addition.

Why the crap reviews
10 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was so funny. I love this show.. maybe some don't get the humor and silliness which is what makes it fun. The Jake Paul reference was hilarious.

It's a great show. Some complain about choices people make. But it's realistic. People make dumb choices every day.

So what's new? I thought it was a great episode and I'm really enjoying season 2 because in 2024 now we are moving ever closer to the potential reality of this kind of technology and all the pitfalls that this show shows up so well.

That's what makes the scifi elements so interesting to me. So I'm binge watching this like why not.

Predictive programming at its laziest
14 December 2023
I say that because it's obvious this movie is designed to set the stage for an actual event in the near future but they didn't bother to actually build a decent film around it.

Esmail adds his signature style to the film ala Mr Robot and it's appreciated but still there's just not much to really hold the attention and keep you interested in the characters. It could have been so much better. So epic. But it almost feels like Sam Esmail has done this on purpose to make it obvious this film is really only serving a purpose intended by the Obama's and nothing more. It's like he wants us to see right through this vapid story. And also to highlight how the current generation has become. Lazy and uncaring in general to even bother going beyond mediocre.

Plotholes and nice scenery
25 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Not nearly as good as it could have been. Just not very engaging.. it's still running and I'm writing this script. I just don't care about the characters or what happens.

An example of poor logic. The guy examining the child robot looks at the hole in the head for about 5 seconds with some tweasers and then determines that this childs abilities are going to keep growing and be able to eventually control all electronics and everything. He worked this out by looking at the child up close for a few seconds? How does that make sense?

There are many examples like this. This just feels like a stick standard action film with some nice scifi elements and cgi. But just meh.

Watchable generic Ryan Reynolds film
17 March 2022
I call it a Ryan Reynolds film becuaee he is so typecast by now. The usual cheesy one liners we know from Free Guy and others.

As a silly comedy its hard to believe the strong emotional scenes when its all so cheesy.

But its fun and reasonably entertaining.

Just a variety of scenes kind of quickly thrown together and Ryans one liners is just unoriginal and silly. Its ok. That's it.

Doesnt deserve more than 6 stars.

Formulaic action comedy.

This show really reminds me of "Counterpart". Maybe its inspired by Counterpart?

If you like this then you'll love that.

Ive found something compelling and twisted and interesting. Can't wait for episode 3.

Cheers and good job Ben Stiller! Really impressed so far.

Manipulative and biased
10 February 2022
Doesn't deserve any stars. This is a total whitewash to hide the real meaning behind the original movie. The director was attempting to expose the dark aide of freemasonry as well as the overall agenda for world domination of the 33rd degree and related secret societies which workshop what can only be called an evil agenda.

Brilliant social satire for the covid era
27 December 2021
Mainstream critics predictably hate this film.

Because it exposes the utter shallowness of the corporate control of modern day media and politics.

This is black comedy biting satire at its best.

It should have had a theatrical release. But I guess its just too close to the truth for that.

My favorite film of 2021.

Meh rehash of old ideas and social conditioning
27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Why are there so so many movies thst attempt to portray robots as having feelings and been worthy of care and trust?

Maybe its an agenda to try and condition the public into accepting robots in caring roles? Like robot nurses and the like. Because it sure looks that way. The usual dehumanization of humans. Also a pretty pointless movie.

Barren wasteland of rusting cities and desert. Check.

Sidekick robot. Check.

Main character learns that robots are just as human as humans. Check.

Warning: Spoilers
OK so I gave this a shot as some of the reviews seemed to show it had promise as an art house kind of slow burner.

But.... No.. Its not arty at all. There is nothing going on here of substance. If you enjoy a bunch of criminals looking grumpy and killing each other then... Its still crap. A Hollywood cliché version would actually be better than this.

Warning: Spoilers
I contacted Ryan Wartena some years back about his hydrogen powered scooter and if he was willing to share how he did it. He basically in a nutshell wasnt interested or tried to avoid that subject. Almost like someone had leaned on him to keep his mouth shut. Which was a real shame if you ask me.

Dark and amazing
29 May 2021
What to say?!

Its dark, it's humorous, its biting satire.

Its a chilling take on corporate control of politics and media. That's probably what I love about it the most. It pulls nopunches. The casting is excellent, script writing is excellent. Its tragic, super dark and violent. What a mix of styles!

Karl Urban is great as the over the top not job. The lines between good and evil are blurred so far its very refreshing to see characters that are not 2 dimensional in a super hero flick.

Elisabeth Shue.. Still very sexy.

She was sexy in The Saint all those hears back. She's still hot. The characters are all quite likeabke in very unlikable ways if that makes sense. Just love the show.

The dark humor almost goes too far sometimes.. But then you remember this is based on a graphic novel.

Some scenes are hilarious. The whale?!

Without needing a spoiler alert.. There's a ridiculous scene involving a whale.

Homelander is so well cast and suitably creepy. Everyone's individual tragic stories just fit nicely. Its a lot or fun and action and some excellent writing to boot.

This is such an important documentary.

And it does stand up to scrutiny a year later. Yes hydroxychloroquine does work. Masks don't do much. The vaccines are dangerous and we are finding that out more and more every day.

I could just say wooooooooh! And that would be enough. The thing is.. this is also about us.. about this life.. about how we are all split personalities of one great mind! Seriously.. this experience (rather than just calling it a show) is about us and him and everyone on this plane. If you've ever wondered about the nature of this reality. Of this persistent dream we call "life". Do you know what I mean? I think you do. Does this review contain spoilers? Yes. But not just for the show. Aye friend. We are all a part of this.

Good sci-fi silly fun
18 December 2019
Yes this movie is generic and silly. But the characters are very likable.. the CGI is excellent.. it's fun and ridiculous and funny! Even though it's not supposed to be funny.. although it seems to make fun of itself at times. I really enjoyed it. The main characters narrowly escape death so many times.. but it's the same for pretty much every hollywood action sci-fi out there. Nice cinematography... Fun characters and action.. ridiculous plot holes. Entertaining.

Wow! Utterly captivating
18 November 2019
It all makes sense now. And yet we somehow knew all along And yet we didn't.. Hands down best episode of Mr Robot so far! And one of best eipodes of a TV series ever. A very edge of your seat and ultimately satisfying episode. Reminds me of the best episodes of Fargo or Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. Black humor and biting satire with gritty realism and fantasy all rolled into one heck of a fajita.

Intriguing and predictable but entertaining
8 October 2019
I enjoyed this.. the teenage angst parts I almost skipped completely but decided to give a chance.. and to be fair, I think the things that happened at the club's and parties were pretty typical things teen-agers experience, and it was treated in a reasonable way.. I feel the overall combination of life's troubles and criminal conspiracy worked well together. Also the action and so on was well done. Not amazing but good all the same. It's not quite edge of your seat either but there is some emotional engagement. Overall 7/10 worth a watch if your interested in Bourne type movies and mkultra super solider type themes.

Disappointing rubbish? Dare I use such a title?

Warning: Spoilers
Ok so first off the bat.. I'm not a big fan of superhero films.. I've enjoyed a few but I'm no fanboy. Seeing men in tights with big letters on their chests just doesn't do it for me. But I do like Batman Begins as an example of some guy in tights still been a good film.. I like gritty and a little dark my super heros. I liked some of the X-Men franchise. (I,II, Future Past..) These were sometimes intelligent and interesting. Sadly to me the whole Avengers franchise has felt like a dumbed down version of the X-Men films.. It's basically a lot of ego centric stereotypes wise cracking at each other and showing off..

Sadly that's what I got from watching this. The first hour was terrible. Spoilers potentially! It gets better in the second half for a while. The actors show some emotion! Wow.. some years are shed. The wooden acting still shines through however.. I mean I'm surprised at the high ratings for this film. It seems like everyone a just forgiven the huge plot holes, poor acting and unnatural script writing and ultra predictable stereotypes .. and everything that's bland and wrong with this film... Because... It cost a boat load of money? Has a lot of secrecy around the ending(s)? I actually stopped watching with about 30 mins left.. after the big battle where everyone is thrown together to fight off this guy who by that time we don't even care what happens to him anymore anyway.. it's all just a big mess if you ask me. I really don't get it. So many plot holes and WTF moments? It's just all so wooden.. Like Guardians of the Galaxy but less funny, fun or relatable. The CGI was disappointing. The hulk character had no life in him.. and neither did the actors sadly. Half of the planets population is wiped out by badguy. Avengers just sit around and wise crack at each other like it's just another day and another baddie to get.?! It's just silly. So so silly.

One of those films that makes you feel like you can take on the world
7 March 2019
Surprised at how much I loved this film.. i don't know the backstory and it's quite predictable and a little cheesy in moments but it doesn't matter. The characters are fun and likable. Visuals are stunning.. and a nice blend of detail and style with hints and nods to various films like Akira, Matrix, and I forget the others right now. This film has heart. That's the main thing. It could always have more, but for an action film it has a healthy dose of emotional connection and fun and humour. Total winner all round.. no issues with the eyes or graphics at all. The moisture details really set the bar for great CGI. And the story appeals to the hero's journey..

3 November 2018
I absolutely LOVED this film! Hillarious, over the top, biting satire and sillyness including even sub plots that go nowhere or don't finish and all kinds of seemingly random dialoge that just perfectly adds up to a whole heap of fun. The music, pace and palette give it a breaking bad/Fargo/Better Call Saul mood to it.. if you enjoyed those you'd have a really hard time not enjoying this!

I love this kind of s*it.. this is right up my alley.. dystopian and futuristic and dark comedy satire and wicked sense of humour. There is an hillarious twist or two also. An often tragic social commentary on some of the worst aspects of a broken society while at the same time never taking it self too seriously equals perfect balance of dark humour and societal wake up call :)

Wacky Fargo style dark comedy that laughs at itself
31 August 2018
I almost stopped watching in first 20 mins due to bleakness and overall depressive feel but quickly started to like it as a piss take on many things. Similar humour to Breaking Bad and Fargo series.. just dark and twisted and stupid and funny.. Overall I have this 10 starts to make up for all the poor reviews from people who just don't get this form of comedy or are fussy cynics. I was laughing out loud.. you gotta laugh at life's absurdities and this film does that.. also it's a cultural commentary and could become a cult classic.. My fav movie of 2018 so far.. this year has been a year of paint by numbers super heroes and all the usual BS.. this is just good fun!
