Me Time (2022)
Standard Kevin Hart Movie with Dislikable Supporting Actors
If you've seen any Kevin Hart movie, you're well aware that he is, for the most part, typecast into certain roles. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just know ahead of time what to expect and don't expect an Oscar worthy performance or storyline.
Having said that, where this movie failed was with a supporting cast of extremely unlikeable and annoying characters with entirely too much screen time, specifically Ilia Isorelýs Paulino. Her acting and delivery was awful and made me want to turn the movie off immediately.
I can often overlook lack of creativity or lack of direction but this one was hard with the distracting bad acting, from secondary actors no less. Wahlberg and Hart provide standard fare performances you'd expect for this type of movie.
T.J. Miller: Meticulously Ridiculous (2017)
What a waste of time.
I actually like TJ Miller, despite his off screen issues. Loved him in Silicon Valley and She's Out of My League. But man this was a letdown. The jokes felt forced and most of the laughs felt like pity laughs. Definitely skip.
Raising Dion (2019)
Boring and lacked focus and cohesion.
I wanted to like this. The lead actress is gorgeous and am a fan of Michael b Jordan. However this was a huge miss. The show starts off dark and eerie but then switches pace randomly. The best way I can describe it is one moment it's dark sci fi and then other times it feels like an ABC family show with the music to match. It's almost as if you're watching two different shows with different writers and directors each episode. It clearly lacked direction and focus.
While it doesn't bother me, I do understand why people are upset about certain topics/scenes in the show. Neither really had any purpose in the scheme of the storyline and felt like things were added just because.
I would definitely skip to another Netflix show.
Dolemite (1975)
A worthwhile movie, if only for the laughs
Definitely worth a watch. Even more so after watching My Name is Dolemite to give the film some perspective. It reminds me a lot of The Room. The intention may not have been comedic, but it is absolutely hilarious.
